Hello everyone, Im having trouble with my suspension. Recently I replace my front stock sway bars (Steeda), tie rods, tie rod ends, end links and lower control arm. I keep on hearing a clunky noise. The springs are ford racing n spring. The upper strut Mounts are the gt500 ford racing. The struts are eBay replacement strut. It got to the point that replaced my aftermarket wheels with 17 stock gt wheels thinking it was my wheels Needed Hub-Centric rings and just decided to put a stock wheel. Any ideas what It might be, this is very frustrating. Thanks

Sounds like possibly a front sway bar bushing to me. I had a similar clunk in my passenger front and that is what it was, something to look at anyway.

Thats a lot of work you have done. I would go over EVERY bolt you touched and check tightness.
You didnt say when the noise happens. I had an intermittent clunk in mine after doing struts. Ended up finding the top strut nut lose.

JJ427R, would I just grease them or replace it? They are brand new.

Juice, I’ve checked everything. The noise comes from the front. Every time I hit a bump. Even if the road has cracks I here it. But if the road smooth I don’t here any clunks.

thanks

I've found the front sway bar links (check the joints) have to be super tight for them not to clunk. Torque setting is 85 ft lbs (be careful not to strip it). If you're using an aluminum after market link obviously the torque is not the same (ask me how I know). If you have one not tight enough that'd do it. Get it up; take the tires off and check them. May have to use a jack under the suspension arm to check if you have any play. I've also had the same problem in the rear. Typically, one of the body bolts for the rear sway bar isn't tight enough (at least that's been the problem in my case). Once you get them all torque'd properly the clunk should go away unless one of the links or sway bar joints is bad. Good Luck

Mine went bad under warranty just shortly after I bought my car in 2010, so even though new it could still be bad. Roush replaced mine as mine is a Roush suspension. As Juice said check all the tightness. Mine did the same when hitting bumps so that sounds like it.
Keep us informed and good luck.

There's always the ball joints as well. From your description I'm going to assume the new A-arm came with one but there's always the other one. When you get the car off of the ground with the wheel still on put your hands top and bottom and try to move the tire in and out. If you have play you'll know it. As Juice said highly recommend re-torqueing every nut and bolt you've touched.

Sounds to me like you did a complete job on replacing the front suspension with the exception of the lower Ball joints and I'll bet you dollars to donuts thats where your noise is coming from. I known because when I bought my stang the suspension was shot and I had the same noise. I installed the GT500 front lower control arms with ball joints already installed as it was more cost effective and an easier install.

Thanks everyone for the advice and help, and here is the update.

Last week I ordered some new OPR end links for American Muscle. Replaced those and tightened every nut and bolt up again this past weekend. The upper strut mount on the driver side was a little loose and a sway bar nut was also a little loose. After that, the mustang seems brand new and drives like a champ. All I need is an alignment know.

Monkeyporn, I replaced the both arms but didn't go with GT500 because the where too expensive. (Maybe Later)

Thanks Everyone.
