Sports for the S197's that is.... FINALLY

I wanted to give you a heads-up that the Mustang Sport struts are showing in KONI Holland’s computer as being “in-transit air freight”.

Holland shipped 95 sets for the entire US.... about 3/4 of which are headed to my warehouses (and a number of which are already sold).

If you've been waiting to get some on order, now is the time because once I clear the backorders there won't be lots left... and I am getting the huge majority of the struts coming into the US.

It'll cover me for a little while... They'll make more, but most others won't be getting many on this first batch. I have most locked up.

Sam - what's the ETA on these until you're able to ship a new order. I have a track day April 16th before which I'd need to install these (I'm doing the work) and get the car aligned. What are the chances of you shipping out by Friday, April 2nd?

I'd love to tell you a solid date, but with Customs and shipping time to Koni and then to the warehouses, I can't say for sure. I don't expect them ready to ship to customers until about the end of the 1st week of April--and that's not any sort of set in stone date. Right now it's up to the Feds more than anyone.

The might get a few.... but I know what's headed where---and most are heading to my suppliers. Seriously there won't be many around besides what I get. Some, but not lots.

Does anyone know yet if dampers like the Koni sports will work on the 2011 Mustangs?? I assume we don't know yet, but just thought I'd check. I know Sam plans on buying a 2011. From what I've read, I have no reason to believe that they changed the housing design or the way they mount... just dampening rates like usual.

I went to the Detroit Auto Show specifically to see the "new" car. They had one flipped on it's side---the shocks and struts will work, of that I have no doubt what so ever.

You can look back and find what I'm going to say in days gone by (ok, maybe months gone by)... so it's not a tell you what you wanna hear sort of thing.

First I have to disclose I sell both Koni and Tokico. In fact I did a few sets of D-specs last week for folks.

Second I have to disclose that I used/owned D-specs and won a National Championship on them.

Now that you know those two things, here's my take--and there are some others here that have run both and can confirm they felt the same way, Kobie being one of them:

Koni's are better built, more durable, and covered by a way, way better actual warranty. I say "actual" because both claim to have a lifetime warranty. But if you ask anyone who has tried to use it with Tokico--it very often is fruitless.

Tokico's are double acting single adjustable, meaning the adjuster changes both compression and rebound damping, which is not ideal. Those do different things and wanting more rebound doesn't mean you want more compression too. Koni's are true single adjustable, rebound only. That allowed me more workable range of adjustment on our car when dialing it in because I didn't have the compression change interfering with what I wanted for a result.

And finally if you ever get to run them back to back as I have, the Koni's have just that extra bit of polish, so to speak, in terms of how they damp the car and feel over bumps.

I have to say performance wise, that D-specs are 90% of the shock the Koni Sports are. But the difference in that last 10% is discernible.... and the warranty plus the sale pricing puts them over the top for me.

what about these shocks / struts for drag racing

don't do a lot of corner carving, i've used the dspecs with good success in the past and cut 1.49 60's in my 08 gt 500

what is the pricing going to be on struts / shocks combo?

I found the answer on the front page of his site!:asshat:

2005+ S197 Mustang? KONI SPORTS ARE BACK (or will be shortly)
It's been confirmed that a run of the front Koni Sport struts we've been waiting on since seemingly last century, is finishing up.

All those who've had backorders, they'll be filled first thing when the shipment arrives (due early April).

Even better----we are slated to have stock so those of you wanting to get some Koni Sports but who didn't have them on order, you guys can get some as well.

And the final good news. They are on sale for $629.00 shipped for a set of 4.
