I've had mine open to the atmosphere for about a year when the car was torn apart. I'm guessing I need to have it vacuumed and then charged. Where would be the best place to get this done? I have a friend at a dealer, would that be the best bet?

thanks:thumb:

If it had been a leak don't some of those cans of refridgerant include a dye that is meant to be used to help detect the leak?

after my build last summer the lines began to freeze and the AC was weak. Now I have no AC what so ever.

If the lines began to freeze it maybe that the little filter on the a/c system got plugged up. Happened on my 03 ranger. Need a special tool to unhook it.

Also they sell those little cans with a reusable pressure checker that works great and you can just put another can and reuse it. I didn't pull a vacum on it, the vacumm is prefered obviously. Any how 3 years going and still no problems.

why do you say this? I have a leak also in my a/c lines that I'm gonna replace. I need to know if I can just get a couple of cans of A/C to recharge it or do I have to take it somewhere?

The big thing about recharging an A/C is that you need to figure out why it isn't charged in the first place. If there is a leak and air got inside the system, you now have air (a compressible gas that isn't refrigerant, and thus will not transfer heat the way refrigerant does due to the fact that your automobile A/C system does not have the power to change the phase of air) and water (moisture from the humidity in the air, which is something you do NOT want inside the system) being circulated around inside the refrigeration loop with the oil and refrigerant. The moisture causes corrosion and damage, the air just makes it less efficient.

You need to figure out why your refrigeration system is not working first, then fix the root cause, then recharge if necessary
