im sorry if this is in the wrong place but i cannot find anyone with experience with this irl so im turnin to you guys on the forum. so my brother has a 07 gt500 i wanna buy him some wider tires for his bday, rn hes running 275/40r19 and obviously it wont hook up at all lol. im going to get him some 19x11 rear wheels and i was wanting to mount 305 35 r19 on em. does anyone have any experience running this 12 wide tire? hes not lowered now but plans on doin about an inch drop maybe 1.5 in the future, anyone with any insight id appreciate it i need to order em soon so they get here in time, thanks in advance

They fit fine on my 12. 19x11.5 with Nitto G2 305 35

More important than a bigger tire is the compound of the tire. A smaller tire with a better compound might be a better choice or a bigger sidewall.
the 305/35/19 is 27.5" tall, so that should fit, a NT05R or a MT DR would work well I would think

If you keep the diameter to 28" or less he should be fine, as long as the rim has the proper backspace and offset, IIRC, you will need a a 45mm offset - but that's from memory that's 8 years go, so I could very well be off some there.

i dont know exacly how much power its making is all stock except a axelback slp loudmouths... (way to loud imo) right now hes running some cheap sumitomo tires so anything will be an upgrade.. im plannin on using nitto nt555 G2 bc AM has them and i have them on my 07 gt and they are a decent tire for me.. anyway the wheel im gunna buy him is AMR black 19X11 + 56 offset 8.20 backspacing, im hoping they will fit with the 305 35s
also his front tires are 245 45 19 so they are 27.7 tall and the 305 35 19 are 27.4 tall will that cause a problem or be noticable??? thanks yall

You wont notice the slight height difference.

My experience with the 555G2 Nittos is very unsatisfactory. I could break them loose in 3rd at will. Much too hard a compound for a car with power. The NT05 is much better on dry pavement. I would have bought Mickeys but they were not available at the time.
With an 11" wide rim, you will need a +56mm offset. A 245mm front tire is kinda narrow imo. A 275 / 285 mm on a 10" wide rim would provide for better handling. With a 305 rear + 245 front, the car will exhibit a tendency to oversteer. To make it really handle good, some negative camber will work. I used the steeda hd front strut mounts, that allow for some negative camber...then tweaked em for max neg camber...this is with a 285-40-18 front tire on a 18 x 10 front rim and +45mm offset. A small 3mm spacer was used on each front.

I second the dissatisfaction with the 555's. Bricks when they are cold. Greasy when they are hot. Either way you're not going anywhere except the ditch.
I'm running nt555s 305 35 19 in the rear and 255 40 19 in the front. I feel like the car has the perfect stance - just a little bit of rake. The rear tires poke out about 1/4" past each fender but do not rub at all. I love the tire size but am not crazy about the tires themselves. If you're set on getting the nt555's, get the radial version.

Yes, I meant understeer.... ( senior moment). The fix for that is less rear sway bar. Or wider front tires.

All else held constant, I'd expect a 245/305 amount of tire stagger to understeer resolutely, as in everywhere in a corner. Including turn-in (where more front bar/less rear bar can sometimes be of advantage).

I upgraded my front brakes to the GT500 Brembos. I’m using the factory gt500 19x9.5 wheels. Went with 285/35/19 front
305/30/19 rear
285 front reduces understeer for me
Better turn-in and mid-corner confidence
Good front end feedback
305 rear gives me stronger exit traction
More Predictable, less snap oversteer.
Looks great with my Bilstein B12 Pro kit suspension.

On the rears, I have 305-35-19 MPSS tires on 19 x 10" wide rims. Wasted effort imo. A 305mm wide tire needs at least a 11" wide rim.
On the fronts, I have 285-40-18 on 18 x 10" wide rims. ideally they shoulda been on 10.5" wide rims.
