Hi guys, I’m pretty sure this topic has been covered here before. I hope you don’t mind the redundancy. I have a 2009 v6 4l mustang. I want to run a turbo or maybe ‍♀️
I’d like to hear from the forum. Especially from those who have ran turbos and did the installations and tunes to get everything running smoothly.
-Which kits should I buy or should I purchase everything separately.
-what all would I need? Etc...
    thanks for your time

You won't find any complete kits anymore i dip know of a one kit that's used for sake for around 4k. It will cost you a thousand or two more than that. To be installed and running good. If you want more info on Facebook is a group called 4.0 heroes.

    Agree.
Turbocharging a 4.0 would only bring it up to the power level of a stock 4.6, so just trade up to a GT so you can start modding from a higher level of performance.

Thanks 0blackbeauty5 for the info. I’ll check that out.
As for the V8. I’d like that too.
So the car is a warriors in pink edition. ( it’s the breast cancer edition) less than. 300 made I’m told. For that year.
I bought it for my wife. She was going through tough time with her breast cancer. She’s good now. But tells me the car is boring. So I put on a Flowmaster thought that might liven things up nope still boring.
So I either leave the car the way it is or ... spice it up a bit. Wow! After writing that. Sounds like my marriage.
Thanks for your time and info

I'm all for getting a V8 as everyone suggests (which is why I bought a foxbody) but I also like being different. Yeah you wont get similar power to a 3V or a Coyote but you'd defiantly get a lot of questions and people talking about you. No such thing as bad publicity right? Since the car has some sentimental value why not turbo/supercharge it?

You could make a sleeper out of a V6 by turbo or supercharging. This would give you the element of surprise if a 3V or Coyote owner decides he wants to play with you. ;)

You could start with a tune, CAI, and gears. Get an 8.8 swapped in with 3.73 gears and it’ll be a whole lot more fun! You can also buy a Vortech or ProCharger kit that can give you more power than a stock 4.6 3v V8.
I understand the attachment for your Mustang and that’s why I supercharged my 4.0 instead of selling it and buying a GT.

Don't waste your money on a CAI. The stock airbox on an otherwise 4.0 is more than adequate. Just get a tune & gears as VistaBlue09 suggested and add an intercooled centrifugal supercharger kit later on as your budget allows. It's also easy to reverse back to stock if the need arises.

These are the best suggestions given your situation with sentimental value. You can also ask her if she'd like to go GT or not. She may not be as attached as you may think, but then again, she may be given the past.
