Honestly, it's probably better to leave it alone or get it fixed by a body shop. Like you said, it usually comes out goopy and looks like shit.

Yeah, I have to agree.

I got the touch up paint for a couple of door dings, and at first it comes out a darker color. What I had to do was apply it, wait for it to dry, then RE-apply it and wipe it off (I guess the make up of the paint takes off the prior or excess touched-up spot) and it either all came off, or touched up the door ding for a short time.

If anyone has any real good ways to touch it up, feel free to chime in

I'm using mine on my CDC lip. I keep hitting it against the curb when I park which really sucks, it's chipped right in the middle.

DONT PULL UP SO FAR,

i hate using touch up paint, it looks terrible, but it gets rid of horrid cracked or chipped paint areas on a front lip.

Still getting used to it. I figured if I stop where my side mirror is lined up with everyone else's door handles, I usually come out okay. Either way, I'm pretty sure this lip will get beat up overtime.

I've used Fords touchup paint before to, and I take my time. But here was my process. Cuz it's can be goopy, I put some paint thinner in it till it's nice consistancy, I also have differnt size paint brushes I get at a hobby shop and use those then I take a paper towel and cut a small hole in the middle and do the touch up in the hole, this way if my hand moves I get the towel and not the car (I don't have Surgeon hands) plus it keeps my hands off the car and allows me to focus on small, little at a time areas. I also don't do it all at once, I do it in small layers and I too will use a toothpick at times.
Hope this helps and give someone.

Ive been reading up about the Duplicolor perfect match paint. I was planning on redoing my chin spoiler since the dealership I bought the car just shot paint over the chipped paint and it is starting to peel and it looked terrible anyway. Maybe someone has used this before? Maybe I should have started a new thread but this is about the same scenario and it can help both of us.

I have some Perfect Match paint in sonic blue. I tested it on a piece of scrap metal and it matches pretty good. Haven't used any clear over it though.

I've noticed that when I go to put on the touch up pain (I have a sterling grey metallic) it comes out almost black, and then I reapply it and it gradually lightens up, have any of you with different colors had that happen?

They sure do... My CDC Agressive with H&R SuperSports gets killed every year. Luckily my brother in law is a paint guy and touches it up for me once a year :highfive:

In fact - I'm about due to bring it back to him soon ...
