Traction control not working.

My 2005 GT has developed an issue it seems. When I bought the car as soon as the tires would slip it would kill the throttle very abruptly. Now it doesn't kick in at all. There are no dash lights indicating an issue. When I push the TCS button it lights up saying it is off but either way it seems to be off.
I contacted Manuel (Lito) to see if the tune I got had modified the TCS system but he said there were no changes included with the tune to affect that system.
Any ideas what to look for or a way to trouble shoot the system would be appreciated.

Scan the car for codes. Just because there is no warning light does not mean there are no codes stored.

Like 86GT said, scan first as it possibly could be a faulty wheel speed sensor thats knocking it off.

Do you have the ability to read data to see if all of your ABS sensors are reading properly?

Gotta be a sensor I would think.. since it works on detecting wheel slip, if a sensor isn't responding correctly it'll think the wheels are always stationary or below the tolerance to kick in the TC right?

Because of a screw up at DMV I am going to have to smog the car 2 years in a row. According to the DMV person I spoke with they can see I did it this year but there is nothing they can do to change it. Beyond frustrating trying to deal with anyone at the DMV.

So I guess I am going to have to put on the stock airbox and restore the stock tune anyway. I guess that will completely rule out the tune from Lito having anything to do with this issue.

Usually a faulty wheel speed/ABS sensor will stop the cruise control engaging on a lot of vehicles. Not sure that's the same on the Mustang? I think you need an in depth diagnostic where you can see or record the live data to see any indescrepancies from each wheel sensor to rule them out. It may be something connected to the traction control only? if that can even be a thing as traction, ABS and speed sensors are all the one system or intertwined in most vehicles.
