Rednek. May have been. But for a $50,000 car, it was a pile of shit. My 2011 has been flawless on the stock shifter. I've been taking it to the dragstrip for 5 years without problems. To each their own. I think the MT82 gets an undeserved bad rap though.
That's me. But I think everyone speaks from their own perspective. My MT82 has been flawless for countless track passes and 35,000 miles of ownership. My TR6060 in my 2010 GT500 was a rough shifting, locking out piece of shit for the whopping 3800 miles I owned it. Just personal experience. Like I said, everyone speaks from experience. And my MT82 has been the best manual transmission I've ever had. I've had them all, save for a T5 because I never owned a fox..
I swear I'm the only person in the world that actually likes the MT82. I can't figure out why everyone hates it.
I surely don't live in a hot-bed of cars here in Wyoming, but me liking the drag strip and seeing what I've seen, is why I'd never own a GT500, and the same reason I now own a Coyote. My track I go to is an eighth mile track with a 6700' altitude with a DA of 9000+ usually, and I've seen 4 different gt500's in the 9's, and one in the mid 8's, "also the only smart enough one to run on drag radials instead of street tires" obviously, I've seen way more coyotes at this track, but it's usually the same story as far as times, most of 'em in the mid-low 9's, good drivers with good tires usually in the mid 8's, and a friend of mine has slicks, skinnys, and a vortech in an mt82 car that I've seen run many times into the mid 7's, and I'm pretty sure I'll never see "any" gt500s in the 7's at this particular track.
Then I drive through town here in rock springs, andI see a very sharp used GT500 with a 38K price tag, after buying my little coyote for under 20? So for me and what I do with cars Coyote > GT500.
Another thing about GT500's is they are all 6 speed manuals from the factory, so if you can't bang gears, and launch very well with a clutch car, you can pay all you want, and have a dyno sheet from hell, and at the end of the day, "you'll be slow". This doesn't bother me since I like, and can manage a manual car pretty well, but with a gt500, you just can't simply "buy" fast like you could with an auto Coyote, sort of the same story with 03/04 Cobras, and Vipers imo.
Not to bash on the 3v guys, but during those years gt500's made more sense than the same gt500 in 2011+ because of the performance gap between the 4.6 3v, and the newer coyotes. Again, the 3v's can be made quick just like anything else, but to me, these Coyotes are amazing in "bang-for-the-buck" factor.

It was a cool story bro...
Or you could just know how to drive your car. I dunno?
It was a cool story though...
FTFY

funny.. seen plenty of Shelby's go 9s..... in the 1/4!
before I got mine, the prior owner ran 9.6 in it....
your anecdotal story is all about the driver, not about the car.....

So far, every thread he's posted in, turns into an argument....![]()
