He will need to be very careful about what logos and wording he uses. Just ask the guys at Grand Design Mat how long it took them to get out of court with Ford, and why when you click on a Saleen mat on their site you go right to Saleen.com.....

If you've ever seen my valve covers, they have the Saleen Supercharged logo painted on. The guys at Saleen said it was OK that I had them done, but I should tell the artist not to do anymore! I had some floor mats done the same way and they said the company could make my set and that's it. Ford has even tried to sue some websites over the use of the Mustang name and logo. Tell your bud to keep it all on the down-low, word of mouth kind of thing.
