This is super trivial for you, but it is not as simple as just adding.... say an On3 single turbo kit and pipe the cold outlet from the heat exchanger directly to the throttle body on the M90 is it? I'm guessing a lot more is involved but figured I would ask because I'm not sure what the challenges are to this. Sounds simple but I know there is more to it or else everyone would be doing it.
Even that would be quite a bit of fab.
Then there is the question of what to do about cooling. Do you run the On3 A2A intercooler and the A2W intercooler in the manifold? How do you mount the heat exchanger and the A2A IC? Or do you delete the On3 IC and just use the A2W IC in the manifold? Will that keep it as cool as you want to?
Does the turbo get too close to the blower snout/belt (I would have to see some pictures)?
Packaging would be a PITA. It's probably a safe bet that everything would need to be modded a little.
And how big is the On3 turbo? Is it big enough to make compound boosting worth it? In theory you want to use a turbo that is "a little too big" because the blower will take car of the bottom end.
And what do you end up with? Will it make 1000+hp? Probably not. What will it end up costing? There is already a "bolt on" way of making 1000+hp, why re-invent the wheel?
There is also the weight to think about too. Your are effectively talking about twice as much stuff.
I have also heard that tuning a compound boost setup at part throttle can be troublesome too.
Like I said above I could see doing a project like that. But it would be to do something different. Not because it makes a lot of sense.
And if I were going to compound boost something it would be with twins and a blower. If you're going to go crazy, go all the way crazy.
