Gotcha, yeah you can retain the oem fitting as its barbed and fits right inside the 8an line and then clamp it which is want I have done on a few cars, works good. You can also use that same russels efi fitting, the inlet and outlet on the oem fuel filter is the same as the fuel hat outlet. You would want the 3/8" size one iirc.

Your method would still be a bit cheaper though.

I found the post. I really don't like using a hose clamp to retain a hose on the barbed fitting in an EFI system

guess it works though...

probably not a whole lot different than the way the OEM fitting is retained

No issues, and it allows you to quickly remove and connect it still.
I did go to a fuel injection specific clamp later and removed the worm gear clamp as I just used that as I was out of the injection clamps at the time.

As I mentioned in a previous post, for this stage of the fuel line upgrade I wanted to upgrade from the OEM fuel filter to Fore Innovation's fuel filter without having to replace the OEM hard line from the fuel hat to the inlet of the fuel filter. Very easy to do.

I chose to completely remove the OEM hard line from the OEM fuel filter to the driver's side fender well, which had already been updated with a 8 AN line to the fuel rails. This is not necessary but I felt it made for a cleaner installation

Next step was to modify the OEM fuel filter mounting bracket. This consisted of 2 steps:

  • cutting a relief in the mounting bracket as the OEM filter is 2.00" OD and the Fore Innovation's fuel filter is 2.20"
  • drilling a new hole mounting hole for the bracket .75" forward of the original mounting hole. This allows the bracket to be moved .75" forward so the OEM EFI fitting mates up with the inlet of the Fore Innovation's fuel filter

I procured all parts from Jeremy @ S&H Performance with the exception of the -10 ORB x -8 ORB adapter and -10 Viton seal

remounted the Fore Innovation's fuel filter in the OEM bracket

finished by routing the -8 AN hose up to the Fore Innovation's fuel rails

I'm sure some day I'll upgrade the OEM fuel line from the fuel hat to the inlet of the fuel filter but that is a project for another day

Do what was the benefit? Did you see a decrease in FPDC or something?
Looks nice though... I'd would totally do this also when I am ready to replace my fuel rails.

This removes 2 more restrictions in the fuel supply line (OEM fuel filter & OEM hard line between the fuel filter outlet and fender well) and gets me one step closer to replacing the complete fuel supply from the tank to the fuel rails.

What size is the quick disconnect piece? I can't seem to find it on summit.

Are you referring to the male EFI connector that the OEM hard line attaches to? If so, you're not going to find that at Summit - need to go to Fore Innovations website or you can contact Jeremy @ S&H Performance as he can supply them.

As I mentioned in the previous post all items, with the exception of the -10 ORB x -8 ORB adapter (Aeroquip Part# FF1010-1008S), are supplied by Fore Innovations and purchased through Jeremy.

Replacing the OEM hard line from the fuel hat to the fuel filter inlet with -8 AN Aeroquip StartLite hose...

I was surprised how well the 3/8" x 3/8" 90* EFI elbow fit in the -8 AN hose
