Used Unlock SCT X3 Tuner

Hi, trying to buy a used tuner from this guy and he stated: "SCT started using ECU lock for tunes so I don't think the tunes would work on your car "
Is this true? I want to know before i buy it from him.

Why people said if the sct tuner is unlock, you can use it on ur car with whatever custom tunes on it.

yea, you can use the tuner but unless the pcm codes match on both cars then the tunes are worthless to you.

You can absolutely use the tuner if it's unlocked but you most likely cannot use the tunes that are already on it. You'll need to buy your own tunes (written for your computer code), put them on the xcal then tune the car. Unlock essentially releases the devices so it can be used on another car, tunes themselves are pcm specific tho.

I found my answer after googling..lol
I need my own tunes for my car.
