can a bent axle cause vibration? because the driveshaft was just turned 180 degrees and it still vibrates, should i continue to turn it? 1 bolt at a time?

also if it wasnt vibrating before gear install could pulling a bent axle out and putting it back in, but not the exact position it was before cause some vibration?

still trying to figure this out.

Its what happens when you get bad gear set/ or someone didn't torque all the ring gear bolts down to 77 lbs and the tolerances are more than .004" variance in the hopefully 4 places they checked the backlash.

hahahaha jimmy i used a .. oh a 3/8's impact to torque my ring gear bolts down on the rears i rebuilt and, somehow magically i didn't have comebacks :omfg:

Well its also a form of cover your own ass. I tend to like having my ass covered, so the blame doesn't fall back on me. It is amazing how much a service manager will try and pin a technician to a wall because the customer isn't completely happy.

Anytime I have a driveshaft out I use a paint marker so everything goes back the same way, If this guy has been doing it for 15 years I'm sure he did or should have, look on the driveshaft and flange to see if they are any marks.

haahahahah my god how you are right!
and don't you just love fighting for every damn tenth of an hour you work for! fighting over 6 minutes of payment.. 6 minutes!! at 13 dollars an hour that's only $2.11 before taxes!

i never covered my ass.. i just let them shit all over me. one time i put 5th gear and the reverse idler in a 5 speed 04 v6 mustang, and got paid 7 tenths cause i didn't stub my time! 7 tenths! l looked at the service manager and asked him "do you feel good now that you've raped me? you know damn well i spent all day on that job"
"it's all we were able to get from ford under warranty cause you didn't stub your time"
"well good. i don't mind workin for free anyway!" :handjob:

and when i get back from Holland i'm going to have to go back to that bullshit.. ohhhh how i love the profession i picked :thud:

If you let threads like this change your mind about doing a mod, you may as well just not get in to mods at all. For just about any mod out there from cats to superchargers, there is a story from someone who has had bad problems. It's just a risk you take. Just research the parts before you buy and if you have someone else install, research them really well to lower your chance of something like this happening to you. You always have that chance of something bad happening though anytime you put new parts on your car.

+1

Just do it.
