Anyone here planning on going to VIR on 1/28-1/29 with SCMC/TCUSA? I'm thinking of going but would like to see some decent turnout.

This is the first "official" SCMC/TCUSA event for 2012. The event will be an HPDE with no car show or dyno, just plain ole wide open, full throttle, full course VIR for two days. Here is the information you will need for this event.

Where: Virginia International Raceway, Danville VA

When: January 28-29, 2012

Cost: $295.00 for two days or $175.00 for one day if you meet the early bird registration

Discount: You must be a member of either SCMC or TCUSA in order to participate in our on track events. To join one of these clubs, go to www.svtcobraclub.com if you own an SVT Mustang or the new Boss 302 or go to www.trackclubusa.com to join if you do not own an SVT Mustang. Regular price of $335.00 goes into effect if you do not mail your check by the January 15, 2012 deadline

Cutoff date for early bird discount: January 15, 2012

Registration Opens: December 19, 2012

Cancellation Policy: We have a special cancellation policy for this event and this event only. You may cancel up to 48 hours prior to the event and get a full refund.

On-line payment available: No, only checks will be accepted. Your check will be mailed back to you or will be shredded if you decide to cancel going to the event.

Special Weather Insurance: If it is raining or snowing or if the temperature is below 48 degrees, this event will be cancelled and a full refund will be returned to the registrants. We will also shred the check if you agree to it.

Host Hotel: The Lodge at VIR

Cost: $89.00 a night

Event Update:

The bottom line on this event is that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain since you will get a full refund if you cancel up to 48 hours before the event. We have a weather clause so if it is bad weather, we will cancel the event, and you will get your check back. No checks will be endorsed prior to January 26, 2012. That means we will hold your check till we know that the weather is going to be good and only then will we deposit your fee. There will be no on line payment for this event since we do not want to pay processing fees and will be able to give you a full refund should the weather be bad.

You cannot use a credit for this event.

Insurance for this event will be available from Lockton Affinity

Beat me to it. I'm going to register for this. Rain, snow, or <48 degrees and it's cancelled with full refund. Seems like a low risk proposition to me.

Thanks for the details! I just registered on the TCUSA site. I'm still waiting for activation, so maybe someone can give me a few more details. I did HPDEs in N. Cali and we were always broken up into groups based on experience levels. Is that the case for this event? Are instructors provided for the less experience groups?

Yes, they will have several run groups and instructors will be available. Your check needs to be postmarked by Jan 15 in order to get the early bird discount. I'm still waiting for my activation so I emailed them directly for the registration form.

SCMC/TCUSA is a good bunch of guys. Tony S runs the operation and strikes a good balance between safety and flexibility. Typically, there are separate run groups, but last year this event was lightly attended so it was basically open track all weekend. If the weather cooperates, expect the same this year.
