Can't catch a break on that motor. BJ had a coyote he was trying to sell. Not sure if he still has it or not. Might be worth a shot.

Failed thrust bearing?
The balancer looked weird so that may be the cause but haven't gotten. All the way in yet.

Thanks kyle. Yeah I talked to BJ. He can get me one either way. I may just go bolt on 3v again though

That's step one when trying to build a reliable 3v...

When Paul's oil pump gears shattered on his first built motor he had very similar crank damage...

Stronger back plate or not, your playing with fire with stock gears. Are $300 oil pump gears worth taking out a built motor?

Skimp on mains and head studs before gears... My 2 cents.

Bruce has never had any issues with gears. I think something else caused the gears to break. I don't think they were the cause

I have seen way more stock gears break than those that actually successfully get away with them...

I would put my money on the gears, pm Paul (one eyed willy)he may still have the damaged crank pics from when his busted up. Looks darn similar to me...

Before I knew about it back in the day when I built my motor my engine builder told me to get them, said the engines not going back in the car with out the billet gears lol. I took his advice.

That's not a piece missing. The inner gerotor gear kinda "wobbles" around inside the outer. Wobble isn't the correct word, but you get my drift. The outer gear has 1 extra cutout (whatever it's called) that creates the "wobble" effect. All the pieces are there. I know it doesn't really matter at this point, just saying.........

Good catch man! There are 9 openings on the outer ring and only 8 teeth on the inner.

RJ,
I don't really wanna give my stock 3V block up...but if you need it, you know I'm just up the road. There's a damn good RA assembly for sale that I know of...Kellogg stroker crank, Manley rods and Diamond pistons...for F'n cheap! Perfect condition...as in, NEW! You'll have to text me for that info.
