Ways to lower intake temps

Not sure if this helps but here is where mine is..Just after the blower, and well before the throttle body so everything sprays evenly before it hits the intake..I re-routed my IAT sensor just before the TB opening, and Vortech had a pre-drilled fitting in the perfect spot..:clap:

I might do the stage 1 kit and use it in the intake pipe and spray it there. Will it hurt spraying around the MAF any?

what temps are you actually getting? my air to air only gets to 140 at the end of the drag strip, around 90 around town .... im in florida.

So if methanol is corrosive to aluminum, does diluting it to a 50/50 mix neutralize it, or is there still a risk of corrosion? Looking at my engine, I see a big old pile of aluminum.
Lastly, assuming it's setup correctly with a solid tune, is meth injection suitable for everyday cooling or is it primarily useful for the 1/4 mile?

I would have to data log to see. I know the intake pipe is usually to hot to touch cruising, beating on it whatever. When it's cold out my car pulls like no other n the intake pipe will be ice cold.

my civic would never pull timing from high iat but it would dyno 30whp more in the winter. fi is more effected by weather than n/a. if a water/meth pump goes out then youre screwed, just like my friends evo.

some tuner in hayward CA. Its was years ago, but he told me he did many meth kits and I bought it just like all the other tuners after him.. haha

Basically, the thing pooled up and tuner was trying to tune it while it was bucking all over the dyno. After the 4th time a rod gave way... but hey it cooled the car down....... for about a year.

If your going to do it make sure the tuner has done meth kits for our cars and watch him tune it on the dyno. If its jerking around have him stop.

Look for any drops coming from the pipe/TB.. I told my tuner about the drops and he told me it was condensation!

he was nice enough to tell me I have to pay to play though and left me hanging. :thumb2:

Wow that's not cool of your tuner at all. Well I guess I'm on borrowed time anyways sort of. I'd like to up the timing alittle since I'm at 18 and keep it cool for now. Think the stage 1 kit would do the job?

ITs been a while but I think they have an option or version that will monitor the maf or something like that.. if it sees a problem it will cut the timing off a little or something like that. maybe someone here has that. Mine was a stage 2 kit., but with that tuner it didnt matter. Cant blam the product for bad tuning. Just keep an eye to whats happening while tuning. many people have them...

Your other option would be to inject strait water. The main reason most people use a meth mix is for the added octane. If you can make all the power you want (or your motor will take) on pump gas then there is no need to add meth to the system. In fact, strait water will actually remove more heat than a water meth mix.
The danger with water meth comes when you are relying on it for fuel/octane and it stops working. If you are injecting water and it quits no big deal. Your IAT's go back up and your computer pulls timing, same situation you have now.

I think your air to air is your biggest problem honestly. I would switch it to a water set-up and I would wrap the headers and put blankets on it as well.

yes get a turbo blanket, wrap you pipes and have them coated. what is the iat getting to. jsut because the pipe is warm doesnt mean the iat are high.data log at cruise and at wide open throttle.
your car is wicked fast! 700 hp and 700 torque,:beer:
