Well i have the Thumper cams in my car which i think run terrible and want to get a different set. I am staying N/A for now. Thinking of switching the gears out from 3.73 to 4.10 cause i run 20's on the car with 305/35/20 nitto DR. The thumpers were great from 4000 up to 6400 but down low they suck ass. I like the pull going that high but lose a lot down low. Can anyone suggest a good cam for my car that runs great with some HP gains??
New to these 4.6 3V so need some direction. Thanks!!

The Comp Cams NSR stage 2 has good drive-ability and gives you 25-30 HP. It's basically the same top end performance as Thumprs but without the lumpyness and low speed issues.

Thumpr cams are pretty aggresive even for bein NSR. If you dont the right supporting mods your gonna loose the low end. I have stage 3's now and gained HP and TQ all the way through. I have 4.10's and ported heads and i like them alot. Switching to Stage 3 XFI SPR cams this month because the thumpr isnt gonna work for me without the blower.

A friend has Comp Stage 2 SPR and they make some good power all around. The Idle isnt nearly as radical as NSR's but the power gains are big, they are more "Drive-albe".

The only downside is the labor, he was charged for 13 hours on top of the Dyno tune but If your going to do it again, you may as well go SPR.

I'm running the stage 2's with a box tune, 4.10's, pulls nice and no low end issues.
My buddy has the same cams as you, they just were not for me.....even though they sound kool....
I might add he had a nice tune and they still bucked, cant have it all without $$

Due them yourself!!!!!!!! I'm no mechanic and I did. 13 hrs labor? doesnt that equal nearly if not more than $1000.......... I had never been into a 3V motor and it took me at the most 4 hrs and more realisticly 3 hrs. Don't let the job scare you, the hardest part is getting the wires out of the way........lol

You would benefit more from adding gears then you would from changing the cams. If you upgrade the cams it will change your powerband and with the 20" wheels, your drivability and low end torque will suffer. Go with the 430 gears if you are keeping the 20's and then go from there.

Terry has NSR cams, not spring required, but 4 hrs to swap even just those is still good IMO.

He's talking about changing the valvesprings too though(swapping those makes a nsr cam swap seem like installing a CAI/Tune :roflmao:), which you have to do slowly and very carefully because you can possibly drop a valve keeper into the oil galley. If that does happen, you better hope it found it's way into the oil pan and nowhere else. I think people usually put a big magnet under the oil pan to guide the keeper(s) down when they fall.

Here's one example: http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19122&highlight=keeper+fell

Check out my Video in my Sig.

I think you will like the way these Sound and they are OK down Low as well.

I do recommend FRPP 4:10 Gears to go with them.

They are the Stage 1 "Thumpr" Comp Cams.
I went with them because I have Buddies that have the "Mutha Thumpr's"
and don't like them for the same reason as yourself.

I went with the Stage 2 "Mutha Thumper" cams and it pulls good down low and up high, and runs perfect. I'd try switching out the gears like bluebloodbundy said to see if that helps, alot cheaper then changing out the cams! I have 4:10s in mine and it pulls good all the way through.

NSR huh? I thought that .450/.450 was the max lift with stock springs. Is this not true?
