What have you done to your mustang today?

That big ass engine looks tiny in that bay. Wow.

Lol, what reactions have you witnessed yet? I can't get over how cool of a swap this is.

The typical reactions have been :

- People in "family cars" just stare, open-mouthed (and the kids are plastered on the windows oohing and ahhhing)

- Guys in Camaros have that "I wish my car sounded like that" look on their faces (and wish their girlfriends would stop staring at the car)

- Guys in Challengers try to avoid having me notice that they've been staring (and wish their girlfriends would stop staring at the car)

- Ricers try to sit even lower in their cars as if to hide from the awesomeness that is old-school Ford power (and wish their girlfriends would stop staring at the car)

- Old people look at me as if they wish they could scold me for killing the planet

- Other S197 Mustang guys are awe-struck.

Young kids have a difficult time identifying the carburetor (and I've had a couple ask me what a carburetor is - and isn't that just a little sad), and older guys have a hard time resolving the pushrod motor in a 2012 Mustang. I think what throws them is that it looks like it came from the factory that way (Chris and JR at Two Ten took great pains to make it look clean, and John Woodall provided some mad fab skills).

When I leave car meets, there are so many people observing and recording that I can almost not get out of the parking lot. NO other late model Mustang/Shelby/Boss (withn a 250-mile radius) sounds like it.

I'm sure that car guys that see the "427" badge on the hood when it's parked are thinkin', "yeah, sure - what a RICE douche".

Now that I have a reason to raise my hood, I installed some MMR hood struts:

So, why is the ECM still in the car? How did you handle guages, throttle, etc? To me, this is tied with Marc's NASCAR engine swap. But this would be much more fun as a DD.

It's only there to control the gauges (speedo, tach, fuel level) and retain the PATS key. I could have gotten rid of it entirely for another $750 or so. I'm still planning on doing that too.

Throttle is via Fox body cable and gas pedal.

You are my hero. And I won't lie, if i saw that in my area I'd def say "what a ricer" if i saw the badge but didn't hear the motor. Chalk it up to too many car idiots in my area

It was an automatic, and we swapped in a Tremec Magnum XL 6-spd.

We haven't had it on the dyno yet. Maybe this weekend.

just got done turning the gain up on my subs some... figure after a few months they should be completely broken in! Everything sounded friggin sweet until Skrillex came on... could feel the stubble on my head vibrating and I thought my rear view mirror was going to break off. I think that made my day too come to think of it!
