100% bone stock 5 speed with less than 1000 miles on it. Installed the Ford Racing HO Whipplecharger and tuned with SCT

Final numbers were 501 rwhp and 472 rwtq. Pretty solid numbers for a bone stock car IMHO. Air fuel was 11.8 across the board. I would expect it to pick up a few HP with an exhaust and a few more miles on the clock.

I'll try and post the sheet tomorrow if I can get it scanned

11 psi on a stock bottom end and over 500 flywheel horsepower - did Ford improve the design of the rods in the 2010 model? I'm new to Mustangs so please excuse the stupid question. Thanks.

Rear wheel horsepower ratings are lower than flywheel ratings, so if you're putting down 500 RWhp, then you probably at approx. 560 flywheel horsepower. Still doesn't answer the question though...

OK, no they did not improve the weakas rods..But tuned right and not beat on, 500 whp is ok for a while..

Yea 480ish is safe area for a daily driven bottom end. Seen 540RW from a JDM car on stock bottom end. Pretty sure it ended up throwing a rod tho.

That's good to hear, I just finished installing this same kit, with a SCT tune from Lethal Performance on my 2010. Whipple shipped my kit with the wrong size airbox to air-tube silicon hose, trying to find a different hose locally, can't wait to drive it. What are your impressions of the car so far?

Mine was the wrong size too. I could not find the right size locally so I put it in the microwave for 5 minutes to soften it up and then stretched the hell out of it to make it work.

500 rwhp is definately pushing the stock internals but I have many customers running at that level on the stock 3V motors and I have yet to have a failure although I must admit none of them are hard core racers. Back when I had a T Trim on my 96 Cobra everyone preached that it would not hold up but 30,000 miles (50+ passes) later it was still together making 543rwhp. Obviously that is the exception, not the rule but a good tune and proper maintanence will go far towards reliability. The most I have seen out of one of the HO Whipples was 535 on an 09 we did last year. The car was a freak. When we tried to pull power the drivability started to suffer. I have another customer making 570 on a stock motor with exhaust (stock headers) running one of the Roush TVS setups. He is well aware of the danger, he just figured get the big blower and have fun while it stayed together.

I might try that, I haven't found anyone that stocks the correct size, and Whipple hasn't returned any calls yet. Did you just stretch it with your hands after you heated it up?

So what kinda built shortblock you building next month when your melt your pistons and throw a rod through the side of the block. lo,l nice numbers way to rich for my blood, but i like to play it safe when it comes to my only car and i am going for 500-600 hp on a built rot assembly.

It was quite hot to the touch so I used 2 long screwdrivers and pulled until it stretched enough to get it to work. I already contacted FRPP and told them about the problem.

To answer your other question the car idles and drives exactly like it did before. The only difference is the nice whine and wicked acceleration difference when you get on the gas :)

Got it together finally. Not sure of the power numbers, but it ran a 12.3 @117 at the track this Saturday on stock P-zero's. Only other mod is a Roush axleback.

I must be lucky because I have run my car for nearly 2 years at 504 horsepower and 474 foot pounds of torque on a stock bottom end. The tune on mine is great and I have never had one hiccup on the car. The car has 50,094 miles on it and I drive it every day and it sees a good bit of track time. And that's also on the stock clutch and flywheel on 10 psi. I know alot have blown up with less power but alot was due to the tune or the way the car was driven. Great numbers to the op.
