Why won't my stang start?

Good evening,

I have a 2007 Mustang that died on me. Before it died the battery warning light would turn on on occasion for a few seconds. The first sign of real trouble before it broke was the turn signals not signaling and the dials not turning green when I turned the headlights on. I pulled over to check it out and when I tried to turn it back on it started clicking really quickly on the far driver rear side of the engine bay.

Any ideas? I can also provide extra information as relevant.

Sounds like you have a discharged battery, and it seems that you either have a bad alternator voltage regulator or a bad B+ cable from alternator to positive battery post.
The fast clicking is from the starter solenoid and that's normal when the battery is discharged.
Have you tried jump starting the engine? Unless the battery has a dead cell, it should work. Use a digital multimeter to read the voltage across the battery posts with the engine off, and with the engine running (no electrical loads). Then post the results here. This will help us troubleshoot the problem 4U.

I think that the dead battery isn't the only issue. Like I said, there were other symptoms immediately before it died.

What could I do to check to see if it's the voltage regulator? Other than corrosion is there anything I can look for in the cable?

OP; Electrical gremlins are pretty hard to diagnose over the interweb. Do yourself a favor...swap the battery, see if car starts & if not - get 'er towed to a reputable shop f/ assessment. We could play "what if" all day here & you're still sitting w/ no car.

Yup, charge/replace the battery first. FYI: when the alternator starts going, weird things start happening (ask me how I know, x5). At least it hasn’t blown your headlights and stereo yet...

Sounds like a dead alternator. Replace that first.

Do not just replace the alternator. At minimum charge the battery, although I would replace both. But whatever you do dont charge a dead battery by running the engine with a new alternator.
