So I smashed my stock pan and plan on replacing it with a mmr pan. I'm thinking about upgrading the windage tray while I'm at it. My question is does the windage tray make enough of a difference to bother with it. It's in a 2006 forged 4.6 std bore with a whipple at 17psi. Any help would be great!

I saw a MMR pan on a car the other day and i was not impressed with it...

Stock pan and windage tray. Anything else is a waste of money imho.

I have heard a lot about canton but haven't seen one. Most people around here don't go that far into the motor. Thank you for the replies, I'll probably go with the canton setup.

ok so what exactly is a windage tray?

The more oil you have slinging around the crank, the greater the parasitic power loss. The windage tray keeps the amount of oil slinging around the crank to the minimum. Some do a better job than others.

That helps a lot Memphis 05. So looks like I'm just going to wait for the parts and tackle changing it. I don't want to pull the motor again.

Tmcolegr, that has tons of helpful info. With that I'm sure my install will go smoothly. Great write up by the way I think you should send it to canton. I'll post up how the install went when I'm done. I'm working 12 on 12 off 7 days a week so it'll be a while. Thanks again everyone, I got some great info.
