I have an 09 but I learned a couple things from the M82 installation videos that weren't in the earlier 3650 installation video. I opened my center console back up and rearranged the padding a bit as well as added the previously unmentioned Dynomat. Put it back together and it's finally as quiet as the stock setup once again.

I appreciate MGW's efforts to go the extra mile and include lots of helpful little extras (like the Dynomat) in order to give their customers the best possible shifter package instead of just slapping the shifter in a box and letting people figure out the other stuff on their own, or worse yet just live with the noise and heat.

I was amazed how quiet it is and no vibration what so ever. They include everything you need and then some it really is the best workmanship from a aftermarket company I ever received.

I'm still waiting to see how the spring will break in during the first few hundred miles. It's pretty stiff but that's a good thing. I don't mind it but the wife says it's tough to get into first lol.

I now have about 800 miles on the shifter and the spring has lost a little of the stiffness , and I wouldnt change a thing. im gonna get some more dynamat and do the under side of the car and shifter, cause from time to time I do get a little noise in 1~4 , 5/6 are always quite. Does anybody notice how this transmission seems to make different noises based on temp, mine does? My car is a 12 and they say they fixed the fluid issue late 11 but im thinking about changing to something else!

My Ford mechanic swears by the GM synthetic transmission fluid, says it really smooths out the Ford transmissions. I'm getting ready to change the fluid in mine.

You mean the GM Syncromesh?

I have a stock MT82/shifter on my 2012 GT.

I have tried a couple different fluids, with varying results. Redline MTL is in the mail and will be the last fluid that I experiment with. When I'm done, I am going to post all my results, pros/cons of each.

I did not, however, try the GM Syncromesh.

hey guys,

here is the MGW classic shift ball kit for the 2011-2012 shifter . i just got the knobs in and they look great. i have been running this ball for a few months and it really feels better than both the alum. ball on the upgrades since it doesn't get so damned hot and cold and the "thumb" shaped base knob.

The knobs only come in black with white graphics , i just do not want to have a whole slew of inventory to keep up with. They look great in basically ANY color car too!!

The balls only come in coarse pitch like our rally series so you will have to get the coarse pitch handle with it but when buyers purchase the shifter they can opt for that handle exclusively and save the 15 dollars. Also , if anybody wants to mails theirs back we can swap but you would only really save about 10 bucks after shipping it back to us and i frankly would like to have both handles for more options.

The kit consists of a CNC machined stainless jam nut with integral shaft , lock washer, coarse pitch handle and MGW logo shift knob with gear pattern on top.

Total price is 60.00 for everything plus shipping. the kit will be 45.00 when purchased with the shifter.

regards
george

here is another really cool optional accessory we will have for our shifter!!!!

this is a high temp heat / sound shield designed for the boss 302 mustang and racing applications where VERY high track and engine temps as well as stright pip[e exhaust systems can put a tremendous amount of heat in the shifter box area.

this is a punch formed stainless shroud that extends for and aft of the shift box and seals the left and right side. the backing is 1/4 inch thick pyrogel pad that is a ceramic based heat barrier . it works awesome and is water proof.

i will not be including this in the base price of the shifter because frankly it is not NEEDED but damned if it wont make the shifter even quieter and cooler and i think the price will come in well under 10 bucks!!!

George, is the next batch the "final" version of your shifter, or still "test?"

the only change i made to the first 50 was i am redoing the boot design. that will finalize the design .

now obviously i ALWAYS look to tweak the design as i make them either for ease of installation or assembly or frankly to just make it easier/cheaper/more efficiently machined etc. but the shifter is so right now that i dont see any reason to make any significant changes at all!!!
