Anyone run a belt driven fuel pump? Or know about the pros and cons of these?
Buddy of mine had 1 on his 6 sec Nova, if Im not mistaken his had a cable like a speedo that drove the pump.
All the big name brands have efi belt drive pumps now. Aeromotive, Magnafuel, Weldon, Waterman, etc.I have only seen them on all out drag cars with carbs.
how much power are you going for? there are bolt in feul systems for our cars that can support over 1500hp on gas. I think aeromotive has a drop in setup that can feed more than that.
as long as your alternator isin't underdriven to much you should be absolutely fine as far as power supply
also if you are still feul injected make sure you take into account what kind of fuel pressure the belt driven pump can support. there are a lot of pumps out there advertising 1000+hp, but that is at lower psi for carbs. not for the 40psi our fuel systems need to work right.
What's the point in a belt-driven pump on anything but a dedicated race car? There are EFI electric pumps that support over 1000 hp.
price....triple pump systems are 1400+
If you want to avoid the triple hat but retain the stock fuel tank, what about this:

Capable of supporting 1400 hp with EFI and forced induction. You may not know about it as they just released it a month ago.
I've only heard about one application with this setup and they were having major issues keeping the pump cool in the tank, increased temp was causing alot of flow loss vice the a1000 in an external setup.
