Go ahead and weld in place the axle tubes are pressed in place. Make sure whom ever you chose welds using the TIG process only and verify that the rod he/she uses is for casting base metal i.e. Carbon with nickel. Also make sure this person runs a min of 3/4 inch tacks at 12:00,3:00,6:00 and 9:00 o'clock. Once this is complete the welding can be completed without misaligning the tubes. Also make sure the fillet weld is a min thickness of the housing hub flange casting where the tubes are presses in i.e. If the housing flange is 1/4 inch the fillet weld must be a min of 1/4 inch thick at the center of the fillet weld.

1/4 is what I might get. Varying between that and 3/16. I tig all of them about how you describe. Takes all my little 200 dynasty can dish out lol. Between the cleaning on the vent side and cleaning the rust on the passenger side it can be some work w all the crap in the way back there lol

2005 white s197 is my dad. he was a Nuclear welding inspector for 10 years, he moved on to become a engineer and is where I learned to weld From. Ill be doing this to my axle in a couple days and i will give some pics while im doing it.

Curious because I've spent the majority of my career in power plant piping stress analysis - did he happen to inspect piping welds?
Back on topic - is any preheat required/recommended? Compared to the axle tubes, the pumpkin is a pretty big heat sink.

He had a built motor/turbo combo.
He is one of the better fabricators in this area, and knows how to make some really ice turbo kits, that make some power.
We had a local fox body car that was going like low low 9's with a T56 and a Turbo kit from TurboFocus...with a 347 budget engine.

As far as BMR very stand up company and helpful, my wife spoke with Kelly last year at Xmas time to order me a Kmember & radiator support and nicely informed her she would also need new motor mounts. She trusted him because he took the time to speak to her honestly.
BMR do u guys offer the welding of the AXLE tubes? Cause i honestly don't feel like making everything line up pretty

As for offering this service, we do not. Years ago we offered custom fabrication, etc, but ever since we changed our name to BMR Suspension, we have been getting away from doing anything custom in comparison to our manufacturing.

I would just say again...remember the radiator brace. You guys way underestimated demand. BMR has a good rep and customers tend to run the same brand stuff on their car.
