As you know I put headers, X-pipe with no cats and cmcv delete plates on my car. I went to the track today for a fair amount of disappointment today.
After I get to the track I let my car cool off for about 20 mins. First run I ran an 8.48@ 84mph. this is about .1 faster and 2.5 mph faster than what I was running. Also this was with Doug's 93 oct tune. Am I expecting too much for the mods i made. I raced an '07 five speed with all the mods I have except I had no U/d pulleys, he had U/d pulleys but no headers and 305/50/18 D/R's. HE would beat me by .2 every time he didn't miss a gear (gotta love them automatics). Will do some pulls next weekend just for some numbers. WIll you please put your experience on this and let me know what you think.

I'm guessing you mean Don_W?

You shouldn't be upset with those times at all. I'm assuming that was on street tires? If so, not too shabby at all. 2.5 mph is about right on par with what you should expect with those mods. That's a good increase! Guys with heads and cams are trapping about 88-89mph so given that.. yea you're doing alright. Drag radials, gears, a stall, and more practice will put you in the 7s.

yea, thats what I meant, My dad's name was Don H., he passed away several years ago, good guy and his name was Don H., just a beer slip.

THis one situation really has me baffled, if I stall the car to 2000 rpm and launch, car seems to just be really flat coming off the line but if I come off at 1000, the car freakin screams off the line. Could it be that at 2k the torque managment is seeing a diffrent kind of situation, and at idle it or 1k it sees nothing and therefore gives me "full" torque. I hope I am getting across what I'm trying to say. This is a Bama tune and I don't know if Doug has torque managment set for a low rpm, no load launch. I am going to call him Monday and see what he has to say. What would happen if trq manag. was completely turned off.

What gears?

4.10's

Seems about right, you are about 2 mph faster in the 1/8th than I am. The 1/8th ET is going to be heavily influenced by traction and you didn't mention your 60 fts. My best 1/8th is 8.45 w/ 1.81 60 ft.

my 60's blow, I occasionally get under 2 seconds. maybe i'm spinning bit i sure don't hear/ feel if i am. going to take a "construction" for the next few months, build up my nest egg and then decide what i am going to do.

Guy at HPP racing in lewisville said that u/d pulley's will make my alternator go out. With all the people running them, i am having a hard time believing that.

my 60's blow,
what pressure you launching at? At what tires? You are running a relatively stock motor with a completely stock torque converter and transmission. I wouldn't expect phenomenal times out of that setup.

And who was it that told you that? That fucking brain trust Wade?

I can wish cant I.........lol

THe only thing I can say bad about HPP is Wade. When they did my gear install, I provided the gears and the lube, they quoted me $275, when I paid my bill it was around $400. when I asked why so much more, Wade told me that had to replace the pinion bearing. I remember looking it up and it was like $37. When I did my pulls the other day, called and asked if still were $50 for 3 pulls, wade said it was $55, went to pay it was $75. I gave them a "C" note and Wade said all the money he had was like $15 or $17 dollars, the difference wouldn't have made me or broke be, but his history of charging me more than what he said was getting a little old. OF course when I asked in the office, everyone chimed in "oh yea its always been $75". I only paid $50 the first time. I know I sound like an old bitch but I hate having to pay more than I was quoted, thats why I get a quote so I know how much labor or parts is gonna be. not deep pockets here.

What you just described would be enough for me to permanently write off a shop for good. That's fucking garbage.

In regards to the UDPs, they're fine. Tons of people run them, and there isn't even a replacement alternator pulley with the Steeda kit. Whoever told you that is a choade and you should discontinue listening to anything they say.

yep i had the udps on for around 7000 miles before the motor went ( whole diff reason tho lol ) never had a one problem and i live in the same shitty weather as you do ..... and i deff agree with dko that nickel n dime shit would stop me from going , i mean sometime there is unexpected costs that you'll never know about until ripped into but the dyno shit well nothing should be unexpected there lol

I have had UDP for over 2 years and 40,000 miles no issues

To OP:
Are your Headers Long Tube or Shorties?
8.4 in the 1/8 is not bad on stock rubber with the mods.
The Stock exhaust flows pretty well so don't expect much of a gain from exhaust mods.
The S197 just needs some weight reduction like Driveshaft, K-Member and Traction goodies like
Lower Control arms and DR's and 12's are not far away.

Look at my Mods in my sig, 12.299@110 (1/4) 7.7@89 (1/8) stock Motor and auto tranny with converter....

Long tubes and have LCA's, the only wheel spin I have is the 1-2 shift, as far coming off the line, it really doesn't spin at all. I am thinking now and which will be the last 2 mods are UDP's for sure and about 70% on a stall converter (TCI street fighter) want this for Christmas, but its looking a lot like Christmas, just not for me............lol
