Boost, not HP, and of course the tune matters.

I think in the grand scheme of things, this is an isolated event. I mean yeah there is some weakness on car with 800-1000 hp....if u wanna call the stock block letting go at that power level a weakness lol.

Yeah, but if there is one area of a typical build you shouldn't have any concerns, its the block. Its the foundation of your build. If the block goes, it can take alot with it. Thats why I spent $2k on my A460 ford racing block. I wasn't going to build a $20K motor and wonder if the block could handle it or not.

The 3V block never failed, that I know about anyway--except for the tooth brush rods constantly trying to escape out the side.....

Block failures on the coyote are definitely not isolated. It's a reality unfortunately. Well tuned cars will definitely last longer, but those on the ragged edge are on borrowed time IMO.

That is not good news, and it seems like the GT500 may be more of the direction that I will go in.

Yeah I agree 100 percent with u, but ur car is a racecar. If I was doing a build specifically for 1000 HP then I would say that yes I would def get this block no question. I'm just saying the notion that these block failures are widespread is a little ridiculous. I'm in the process of a build n have spoken many times as many of u have with mike from l&m n Jon Lund n they said the blocks that have been hurt from moderate HP (600-800) have been tune related mostly. Now Beefcake's.... He has 1200 HP, I can't be mad at a stock block that breaks at that HP level.

I agree that block failure isn't widespread, but it's not isolated either. Failures are definitely tune related. But that's the problem with the stock block, it's not forgiving. There's little room for error. A little bit of bad gas, a hot day, or a dirty fuel filter can all cause moments of less than a perfect tune. A built motor and a durable block will survive. A stock block, not so much. Ford/FRPP wouldn't go through the trouble of redesigning a block if it weren't really a problem. But it was, so they did.
