Just a stupid question but one I need the answer to.

Are you able to get the upper control arm mount back in with the upper control arm installed on the mount? is there enough space down there?

Because I can't see myself squeezing the arms bushing in the mount while it's on the car it's a REAL tight fight.
Either that or I am going to put the upper mount around a car jack and stretch it out a bit.

fyi this is a BMR upper control arm mount with a J&M adjustable UCA.

thanks!

Yes, I recommend torquing the arm to the mount with the assembly out of the car.

Hey Kelly, yes one of those PMs was mine and it just so happens that is about OEM nuts and bolts.
Specifically safely re-using them how many times and buying quality replacements.
Hardware store for nuts and bolts that are torqued to over 100 ft lbs and have other loads applied???

You just want to ensure that you use a Grade 8 or higher, Metric would be 10.9.

As for re-using factory bolts, we have done that for years. I am not really sure how many uses to recommend, but I would say that 3-4 times of torquing to say 129ftlbs....and it may be good to invest in new ones.

FYI...i just replaced my stocker UCA with the BMR mount and UCA.

I put it all together outside the car and installed it in one peice, easy as pie! To drop the gas tank, i didnt have the correct torx bit, i used a regular 50 bit and just removed it slowly with no issues, then replaced the torx bolts with regulaer hex heads.

Ya' gotta' drop it to get the mount out n' back in. I didn't need to fully remove the tank strap bolts when I did mine. Just back'd them out 99.75% and that gave me enough room to swap the mounts.

You maybe able to swap mounts without dropping the tank, but I wasn't.

AFAIK there is no way to do it without partially dropping the tank. We did it the same way ^ you did. I was surprised, my tank didn't just fall either. I literally had to wrestle that bitch down. It wanted to stay put.

Also, it's a torx plus bit to get the fasteners for the strap backed out.

Alright so I found the elusive snap-on T50IPR (FTXR50TPE) torx plus bit on ebay and snagged it.

On my '06, I torqued my UPR UCA onto the mount outside the car. I had to lower (not remove) the gas tank to install them. Fwiw, after I loosened the straps, I had to hang on the tank and bounce to get it to separate from the body of the car. I was pretty shocked.

I loosened both when I did it, and yea you have to pull on the tank to pop it free. Helps to have as little fuel as possible in it too...

So take both strap bolts out and just tug that bitch? does it fall all the way down or just enough to slide the mount in?
