So Ive had my 5.0 for a couple months now, and I love the race red. I want to keep it in as good as condition as I can. I know garaging it is necessary to keep it in tip top shape but unfortunately living in a frat house I don't have covered parking. I'm usually forced to park along the roads, which sometimes is under trees or birds. I can't go and wash my car every single day and I hate leaving it on and it destroying my clear coat.

What's my options, I'm gonna keep a nice coat of wax on it as much as I can to help protect. Would it be wise to get some quick detailer and just keep it in my car? That's all I can really think of.

Thanks for responses.

Wax is your best friend. Keep a couple coats on there, and clean off any bird shit as quick as you can. It really does destroy paint in a hurry.

Bird shit will eat through a carnauba wax very very quickly.

Most people will apply a synthetic sealant first to a bare surface, then a wax on top for good looks and max protection.

FYI, a sealant can only be applied to a bare surface.

It's a good idea to carry some instant detailer with you for those bird droppings. I will pull over to the side of the road to wipe off a fresh Cleveland steamer from one of those sky rats. Just make sure you get it while it's fresh and let the detailer soak it up a bit otherwise it will scratch the shit outta the paint.

I think a car cover would attract negative attention.

Yeah it's a tough call on that. I live at a fraternity house in Flint, MI which is a pretty rough area, and haven't had much of an issue with using the cover. Our parking lot is surrounded by trees that like to dump shit on our cars. Can't wait till I get a garage of my own...

Flint, "a pretty rough area"? I'm born and raised in Detroit and still hated going into Flint, lol.

removing it, just make sure you clean it QUICKLY, bird dookie will eat away at clear coat over time. saturate it before trying to agitate it off, and even then be careful, there are plenty of abrasives in bird poo.

after you remove it, clean the car, throw on a sealant and call it a day. Collinite 845 is cheap and durable. We also have it in stock

Spray it with some quick detail spray wax, let it saturate for a few seconds and wipe away. Don't "scrub" at it.

This is the exact situation I've been in for the last 3 years, lol. I'm so glad that come this May I won't have to stress about my car sitting next to our fraternity house on weekends.

I usually wash the car once every 2 weeks and apply sealant. If bird doodie falls then I get it taken care of fast. Definitely don't do the car cover, that just results in negative attention, like the others said.

During the summer I always did a full detail with a clay bar and possibly other correcting depending on any marks.
