Serious question, why not a Powerglide? They are indestructible, lots of parts available, relatively cheap, and really put the power down. I know they are kinda going out of fashion but they work well.

Or how about a Lenco? lol

They're nice, but tough in these heavy ass cars.

T400 w/ a brake.... not a street car anymore.... :poke:

are you seriously considering making that swap?
Shiiiiit. Just as much a street car. In a turbo car the rpms are the same as a blower car w OD and steep gears. But on those cars we used to put on a gear vendor. Now you have a 6 speed w a brake. Base HP level on a GV is 1200. :evillaugh:

It goes against my nature completely, they are always poking at the shop to cut weight and put a turbo 400 in the car

I just love all my oem stuff.

I figured it did, OEM is a nice set up for the street no doubt, it is a difficult line to walk, Street car vs. Race car.

I've only had one track day in mine, I was asked to not return without a roll bar, I refuse to put on in for a few trips a year. If I raced like you Terry, different story, now I just race it to Little League and the ice cream shop!

Agreed, glides are cool but get very pricey to take the power and live in a 3800lb car.

And agree on the th400 being steetable too. With the GV, or even just in a fast car. In a 120mph trap car the rear gears would make a non-overdrive trans suck (4.11+), but once you are running in the 160mph range the rear gear you need to make that happen has a nice side effect of making highway cruising a little more of an option (3.50 higher).

If you can run 8.75 on the oem stuff, and get almost 20mpg on e85, without going through any hassle of a trans conversion, why change? Let others catch up first, then if you need to make a swap to stay on top make the move. I will say SFI cases and bellhousings is nice, and for consistency and cutting good lights a tbrake would have to help.

Knowing there is more left on the table if you make some changes has to be hard to ignore though, the shit is addicting

Oh yeah. We run a lot of 3.00-3.25 even in 10sec cars. Can hit the tires harder and 60 better with those gears some times. Add the height of MT 315's for the street and you have a cruiser. Don't need no stinkin' overdrive lol

There is another Coyote build coming out with a glide soon. We will see how the glide does.

Yeah but that thing is gonna be pretty light.

Not really, remaining stock interior, only weigh reduction is manual brakes, manual steering and no a/c. stock radio with sirius XM is staying in the car...lol

Damn I would have thought lighter. From what you say plus the cage work, might be hefty. Lol

Terry

Have you contacted Jason Gatlin at ATF here in South Florida? He might have some very good suggestions for you. He is always on the cutting edge with Transmission Performance.

Man this brings back memories..

this is almost as big as the infamous Don_W vs. Lostsoul challenge. The whole forum was on edge for years. It was like, your a mod now with 2 billion post, you a big man now,, I'm going to take you out, but then magically a tuner blows my engine when I was getting ready to head south to take him and ST motorsports out.. and just bam.. all gone.. then after a year to rebuild I was getting ready and everyone was on edge again because they knew shit was ABOUT to get real. Even Hawg was getting scared even though he said I was not significant, but I knew in my heart he was trying to help push me to finishing this thing. As I was going from tuner to tuner trying to get the right one I again ran into another bad shop and got F'ed over with an exhaust leak.. one I did not spot untill it did its damage. They told me I can fix it and drive the car.. but you cant race.. or we can rebuild her. I was stuck with a choice like you Terry.. do I let Don_W walk away with the virtual win and let all my mustang homies down.. or do I go for it.. Damn right.. I went for it.. then I found out I could not use the same block because MMR gave me a used block already over bored even though I paid 1K for a new one... So BAM! another 8K gone.. and again.. tuners.. new tuners.. finally got a decent one from out of state... then I got ready again and BAM.. Dons gone.. Probably to a metro-sexual dodge underground world were he might have slight memories of his mustang buddies.... But now.. now after a slight few years later I'm ready(except the line locs need to be back in) and I have nothing left to prove.. just empty inside now.. no goals to look forward.. just hallow..
