Read through this thread a couple times in the last few weeks. I've got Detroit Rockers right now, but have been wondering if getting into the Comp SPR stage 2 cams would make more power? I got a good deal on the DRs or I probably would have gone this way in the first place.

So is it worth the time and money to do the cam swap and expect a noticeable power difference? Looks to me like the dynamic compression data might support making the change.

Since there is little info on Lunati cams I though I might add the specs, the info is from Summitracing.

NA cams:
58000 800-6500rpm 225/237 @.05 .45/.45 116LSA -NSR
58002 900-6600 229/241 @.05 .45/.45 116LSA -NSR/need phaser
58004 1000-6700 233/241 @.05 .45/.45 116LSA -NSR/need phaser
58012 850-6800 225/233 @.05 .492/.5 112LSA -SPR
58014 900-6900 229/237 @.05 .496/.504 112LSA -SPR
58016 950-7000 233/241 @.05 .5/.508 112LSA - SPR
58018 1000-7100 237/245 @.05 .504/.512 112LSA - SPR
58020 1200-7200 241/249 @.05 .508/.516 112LSA - SPR

SC cams:
58006 800-6500 225/241 @.05 .45/.45 116LSA - NSR/need phaser
58008 1000-6700 233/249 @.05 .45/.45 116LSA - NSR/need phaser
58022 1500-6700 229/241 @.05 .496/.508 114LSA - SPR
58024 1800-6800 233/245 @.05 .5/.512 114LSA - SPR

Turbo cam:
58010 800-6700 225/229 @.05 .45/.45 116 - NSR

I have been eyeing the 58012 for my stroker/Vortech build.

Best combo of price, service and product. It's going in the car.

Well, since you are going with a turbo instead of the supercharger, the cam I would go with is a custom grind number 3v-LM37-LM38-115+10. This cam will be 225/229 at .050, .494/.496 on the lift, and it will be cut on a 115 LSA with a 105 intake centerline. The springs and retainers that I recommend are part number 74833-24 and part number 75700-24. Give me a call at my number below if you have any questions or if you want to order it. The cam will still be the same price.

Thanks,
David Chamberlain

For what it is worth............my 08' Bullitt has the Brenspeed "Detroit Rockers" camshafts and I am very pleased with it. They have a nice "gallop" at idle, uses the stock valve springs ect. The street manners are very good. Cold start is excellent ect. In my combination the car dyno'd 325rwhp and 317rwtq. N/A. On street tires have run a best of 12.87 @ 107.8 mph. I can still get 28 mpg at 65 mph on the highway.

Bumping this wondering why it hasn't become a sticky yet. Third time this week I have looked up this thread.

I just found something out that doesn't jive with the common knowledge. We have been repeating that stock 3v cams have a lsa of 117.25. This information was gleaned off of an aftermarket cam website.

The calculations show 114.75 lsa with an intake centerline of 109. Overlap is 34 degrees.

These are the calculators used:

And as an fyi Wallace Racing has a ton of online calculators. It would be a good idea to bookmark this site if you like doing your own calculations and comparisons.

Bruce, when you were running the 127400's. What did they like to run at VCT wise at peak power/rpm. As in how much retard?

Thanks

Good information here. I am trying to decide on which cam to get. The Ford Racing cams, or the Comp Cams. I need to go listen to some cars, as I'm more interested in the "sound" right now.

It would definitely be a PITA to do in the car, I did mine on the stand, and that takes some patience, couldn't imagine doing while still in the car,

I probably just need to pull it. When I had the Sterling cams installed they were not degreed. Also have bigger headers and overdrive lower to install.

How do you like the sterling cams?
I almost got those but ended up with the "RED" Cams.
