It will suck on the strip but I really don't care about that, think it will shine on an NA or a centri on the street/track, and as I don't know which way I'll take with the car once I take the turbo kit out, chose this. I hate my current 6060. Actually is the thing that I hate the most of how the car is as of now.

What rear gear you have in there?

I have 3.73 because of the turbo and a tall tire but will switch to 4.10 or 4.30, after I test the car NA and with the transmission as it sits. I will have the gears in stock so to decide.

Mine is one of the first that tremec delivered as a kit thru D&D, 2nd never worked right. With Redline's MTL more or less works while hot. Cold, it just does not work.

Is it one of the slightly oversized input shafts the first GT500s were plagued with that made a quick shift to 2nd hard to do?

Maybe, you have a link to the solution? I already got the 1-2 synchro and fork to give to the guy who will buy it after I take it out, would like to correct everything out or give the complete picture to the new owner.

No link. It was something I came across while researching prior to doing mine. Tremec even changed the part number for the better transmissions. The Ford fix was a new transmission.

It might be as simple as crocus cloth on the clutch hubs. The oversize was very small but it was just enough to bind the 1-2 shift. Ford also speced a special blue Teflon grease for the shaft to help the clutch slide.

We did not used the "blue stuff" but used some weird stuff we got with no improvement as when I went to install my trans, the issues started to pop all over the place. Weird thing is that once it is hot, it usually works most of the time.

Red Line MTL!!??? Why did you not use Red Line D4...which is what is speced for the TR3650, TR6060, and T-56M XL...?

I did not like the D4 in my T-56M, when it was cold, it was horrible. Mobil 1 is much better when cold.

Tremec used to spec Syncromesh for their manual transmissions, now they spec Mobil1 synthetic ATF (minimum requirement is Mercon III).

Hmmm. Mine didn't like RP fluid once it started to get cold out. Replaced it with Castrol atf and it's good all the time but I still shift into third slowly on cold mornings.

You will soon have the epitomy of Mustang transmissions. I'd imagine it's going to cost more than usual with all the customs fees and hoop jumping required.

Any idea of how long it will take to clear customs and get to you? What clutch are you going to use?

The first oil used in the trans was Mobil 1 ATF syn which is what Tremec tells you to use, did not worked, tried other stuff I don't remember, even Motul ATF (that were working great in two other 6060s of customer cars) so I've read about MTL on the site and decided to give a go and is what have worked the best. Is still GL-4 red oil so is not like is a thick gear oil.

Do you know when that was? I've seen info direct from Tremec that says to only use atf. It also says that syncromesh will delaminate the syncros.

I think it was included in a faq on their website. I still ran the RP both straight and diluted with atf in the 3650 but the 6060 just doesn't care for it unless it's at least 65 degrees out. ATF works great in it.

We don't have winters (were I live is between a warm spring and soft summer year-round) so cold issues of these oils did not worried me at all. I am anti-Castol, lol. Hate their evaporation ratio on engine oils so I ditched them as a brand completely.

It will cost some dough and hope it is finally right. Think I will get in about two months time.

I will use the current RXT I have already, I will have an Exedy Hyper Twin set aside just in case.

I have tried the ford fluid, redline, motul, royal crap, and 2-3 others

This so far is best combination of cold/warm/hot. Never fails on warm/hot and its decent while cold.

20% syncromesh

that crap is wonder in a bottle. It usually fixes all shifting problems on most trans.

What made you decide to do so low on the 1st gear

You will be able to go like 50 some MPH in 1st gear

AFAIK any 6 speed from Tremec is like that. At the end it all depends on what you have on the rear. Don't know the reason but I guesstimate that it may be related to a design derived from older stuff.

Current 6060 that share 1st with Magnum wide ratio (2.97) with 3.73 does that, as close ratio magnum with 4.10, this one is taller than these but not too much. Would love a shorter 1st but is not available.
