You know, I asked them about that front cover leak and they didn't know of any issues. I've got several hundred miles on mine and no leaks luckily.

It seems they don't know anything about the block--at least the people you can get a hold of. Mine has a slow but steady drip. My K-member/oilpan is ALWAYS coated in oil. They didn't say a thing about it but Bruce confirmed that the block doesn't mate up 100%. So far, the product seems good but the customer service disappeared as soon as they took my money

You should call and ask for Ryan. He built my engine there. He must have done something right because my engine and K member are dry as a bone. Sucks your having an issue. Did they build yours from top to bottom or did they just ship you a shortblock?

Shortblock -- there is a part that needs to be siliconed in/plugged that they did not tell me about.

I had to do the same thing to mine. A little RTV fixed it.

I was asking about the rings because I have Total Seal gapless in mine. I wasn't sure if those affected the amount of vapor.

Did you have to pull the timing cover? I was hoping to somehow plug it without having to take the cover off...

No, you have to pull it. I'd imagine that since you clued them into the problem and patched them into the "how to fix" thread that they probably plug the hole and use extra rtv in the one spot.

Pulling the cover isn't that bad. The hardest part is pulling the balancer and that's pretty easy. Stop putting it off and do it, you will be glad you did.

Basically it a pain in the ass to get to the tube without a lift. I had it on a lift and the tube wasn't pushed in all the way. If you get on it and push it down it doesn't want to stay down even with the car off. If it were from boost it would blow it out. I ran breathers for a long period of time but after myrtle beach sitting in traffic I could see the whitish vapor coming out of my hood as I have a hood with several vents in it. Just kind of got annoying. That's why I routed it to a catch can and into the air intake. When I put the upper control arm in Im going to see if I can get the dip stick pulled out and find out whats going on with it. Its a very very small leak.

Update!!

Well, you know those SOS coils...?

:dead2:

EPIC FAIL

I tried to WOT it last night...at 4,500 RPM spark blowout/misfire!!!

Tried it a few times...

So this morning I re-installed the OEM FRPPs and all is back to normal. Nice clean pull all the way to 7,000 RPM.

Sigh...

Wondering if MSD is any better...???

From my research, if you are going with aftermarket COPs, MSD seems to have the least failures. Have you considered a Boost-A-Spark? I have one in my car with stock COPs and haven't have spark blowout issues since. We have fairly similar set ups too.

I wish MSD would come out with a plug in solution...

Like a harness that plugs into OEM harness, then routes to a 6AL box or something, then back to their coils for 60K V...

Sigh

How does boost-a-spark wire in?

Easy, just splice into your ignition wire. It will regulate the voltage to all COPs and it has adjustability for 0-50% increase. I believe maxed out is 20V. It basically acts like a capacitor box with a little bit of brain to it.

We all know that stock cops work great. Why do you want to change them if they aren't giving you problems?

There is one mod that works concerning spark. Look up LS coils. People adapt them to the car and they carry a lot of current. I've seen them mounted on the valve covers and they almost looked like they belonged there.

Brian the car salesman in Kent ran GMS coils in his 3v for awhile. He had noticeable improvements in 1/4 mile times. He was able to gap his plugs at .050" with them. Eventually they crapped out though.
