Was the machine shop able to take this thing off without damaging the crank? Just curious on what happened/what the cause of this was.
Went to the shop this morning. We put the assembly in the press and the hub split at the keyways but came off the crank. It welded itself to the crank. The crank will be fine after they Polish it back up.
As for why it happened IDK. I would have to assume the balancer was moving a bit on the crank. I will triple check the TQ this time around though.
Holy shit, its like its welded on there or something.

The Balancer is on its way to IW today to get a new hub and they are going to cut the second keyway for me there so when it arrives back here on Fri. it will be ready to bolt on.
I am a genius.
So if the balancer at one point was moving around a bit--any evidence of that on the rod or main bearings? How did they look?
I had a ATI balancer/hub split along it’s length right at the keyway. No idea how it happened. It had been on/off a few times. I only noticed because the lower pulley/balancer was wobbling a little at idle. Glad I caught it, that could have gotten ugly!
ATI sent me a new hub, no charge.![]()
