you are right...i do have his old system and he did tell me it is non lockup. The TC i installed i got from him also.

Thank you. Can you put up a pic of the dyno graph to see how it stalled. I was cutting 1.4s - 1.5s with both setups. I have a non lock up converter also. Jim Sr. from JDM to me to put a tighter converter in and I did and went a lot slower. I then added 2 more psi to get it to stall a little higher and picked up .3 just from the boost. For some reason these trans like looser converters.

As far as the Non Lockup vrs the Lockup issue, lets see how long the lockups last compared to the non lockups. Its proven over and over that the nonlockup will out due it.
Non Lockup = Better ET.
Lockup = Better MPH.

I may be a little fuzzy on this but.....
I believe Mark's 4R70W is/was the same as Adam's and mine. They all three have lock up. I remember Mark talking about getting his new tranny w/o lockup.

"The race does not always belong to the swiftest nor the strongest."

An eloquent way to describe index racing.

It is a non lock-up.

I talked to Frank this morning and he has some other suspension issues, but the TCS converter he put in there was brand new in the box and I had never tried it - so it very well could be the converter.

Careful....Androdz and Big Top GT will be in here telling everyone you sold him a junk transmission and converter.

Yep - a brand new in the box converter along with the current working one is such a bad deal...:321:

ok here we go...that converter is crap.....
A pi converter is more efficient...
the tranny is non lock up so that is crap...
a PI converter would be better but you really need a locking input shaft/tranny and the proper converter.

I've tried every converter out there oveer the years..PI while not the best is very good....but the non lock up is costing you 8-10 mph. How do I know? Because I went from single disk non lock up PI on my 5r55 to locking triple disk PI and picked up 8 mph with no tune changes...I did it not hearsay.
114 mph is shiity power. That blower came right off my car running 128 mph with 2 more psi boost than you have...so you are loosing some through the drive train. Its less efficient to start with and then you went non lock up...
You went backwards on that set up...plain and simple.
You should have stuck with your original plan to get my tranny. You would have been alot faster and alot quicker.

Sell that shit and start over.

If that's the case then why is his MPH the same as when he had the saleen and the 5r55? He already said his MPH hadn't changed?????

So if his Saleen and 5r55 ran the same trap - then how is the trans and converter a POS? He didn't lose any MPH, in fact, he ran worse 60's and still turned the same MPH.

BTW: He has a shit suspension set-up and now launching on a TB at 3000 rpm. I'm surprised many jump on the trans being bad bandwagon without even asking the man what suspension he has?

I ran a 9.67 @ 141 on that trans with 696 rwhp at sucky fontana (at 4000 lbs!) - I'm waiting to see what you do with the same HP on your turbo...:evillaugh:

Sounds like your sore he didn't buy your trans. Obviously, the trans works by my times on it for the past 2 years. His set-up and yes, perhaps converter, needs to get dialed in but to say the trans is a POS is just plain WRONG.

I dont care what you ran...
I'm not sore that he did not buy mty tranny...I down right fucking pissed about it because he gave me his word it was sold and then bailed out...I dont what the hell his excuse is...he could loose his right nut...if you give your word you give your word...I stated my opinion here...there you go...thats what I think...
Did I say "tranny is a POS"? No go quote where I said that...I said the convter itself is crap...( shit if you like) and I said its crap that he has a non lockup tranny. I never said the tranny is aPOS
Dont start no shit MARK... Dont be so defensive the POS is not yours anymore...oooops did I say POS that time...my bad...lol J/K

Well the OP was pretty sure he wasn't spinning, so I immediately assumed his suspension was ok.

Watching the video---I have first hand experience as my car used to do the same exact thing when I had the wrong converter in the car. So I recognized it immediately when I watched his video. Also, that converter from TCS was new in the box, so it is definitely the unknown here.
When TCS built that converter, they were probably going off of the assumption you were going to put down somewhere in the neighborhood of 700rwhp. I believe the OP said he was putting down 450rwhp--so that alone tells me the converter is way too tight for his set up.

I could be wrong but from what I have seen the cars making real power and running 8's have trans with non lock up? Ex:
Th400's
Powerglide's
Rossler's
C4's

This is just from what I have seen?? I could be wrong.

ENOUGH ABOUT THIS ISSUE.... Just so you all know what happened at that point i sent an email to dave apologizing and you dave never gave me an acknowledgment from it so here is the letter i sent you .

dave

them comments were unfair. you know i was going with you but i had my hands full with my grandmothers death at the time and was having a hard time getting it together...no i didnt back out because of the 4r70 conversion. after your deal fell thru due to my not having it together i started saving up for the next deal. this one came up from your buddy(i am being facetious) and i just on it. here is the posting and you can see it was a like a week ago

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11100

I am sorry i was i didnt do what i said at the time but I was very screwed up due to my grandmothers passing.

I didnt change my mind...i actually had been beating myself up for not closing the deal with you. now i am taking a chance on this other deal.

take care and I hope you can understand and forgive me

frank

this is when i sent this pm..
01-09-2009 your being unfair

i am a man of my word but my world fell apart on me that week. I talked to you while making arrangments for my grandmothers death. I do not blame you for selling and I explained that.

now it is up to you forgive me and acknowledge i didn't just ship for a different deal. look at the dates...It is VERY obvious. my grandmother passed away the first week of October. You can see when i did this deal.

as for everyone else. Thank you for all the input and it is very helpful. I am learning so much and keep all the suggestions coming. I am looking at making some changes to the car to help. as for my suspension this is what i have

bmr upper and lower control arms
bmr panhard bar
che relocation brackets

I am looking into installing the BMR extreme anti roll system to help plant the car. running bogarts on 26.10.15 et streets in the back.
