How to ungap these shitty plugs

Gapping the strap design plug autolite HTO for 2006 mustang for my M90 install and the first one I tried I gapped it too far. How do I ungap this piece of crap, I've tried multiple things and I just cant get the middle to pull up

I was able to use the gapping tool you have in the picture to the right to ungap when I go to far. I find it easier to do by screwing the plug into the gapping tool on the left and tighten a little then back out the plug slightly and the tighten to get the bend right in the middle. It looks like you got it to .28/smaller ish

Yes, fuck these plugs. Traditional plugs you can bend right back up easily. Shoulda bought an 09.

I won't but I see a head swap in the future. Said screw it, buying 2 new plugs, rest turned out fine. Throwing them in the trash, I cant get them to come back up.

It's a good reason to get a set of frpp cnc heads, lol. I've had both styles. I do like not having to anti seize the newer style. Never had a plug gapper, just used a vise, socket, and screwdriver shaft.

I'd be willing to bet this will be the last time you overgap a plug.

I hate my life right now. Autozone, Oreilleys, Napa, Walmart... none of them carry autolite HT0. wtf. So now I have to order them in.

Will having 2 bosch 1 heat range colder plugs in there with the rest of the autolites be bad? I can get the bosch from autozone and order 2 more autolites when they get here and just swap them out then. Will that be fine? I want this thing running today >.<

You can't grab that tip with a pair of dikes and bend it up a hair? I've never messed with those style plugs but it can't be all that hard.

Nevermind, autozone can get them in at 6:30, my life is no longer hated, etc etc. Still on schedule, will just go run my intercooler harness for now, thanks lol. And Brian I tried pliers, the feeler gauge gapper, scissors to bend it up around the electrode, then a flat head actually ON the electrode (which ruined them of course lol I was DONE). So yea these things suck the wang to gap. got 6/8 of them in xD

Taper the end of your gauge. You can work it in to the smaller gap till it opens back up. Don't poke your finger.

Squeeze the ground strap in a vice, I have ungapped from .02 before and always have had the gap widen when I use a vice. Just use a soft metal on the vice jaws to prevent boogering up the grounding strap and creating possible preignition hot spots, I use brass tags that are easy to shape around the jaws.

whatever you do be careful not to damage the ceramic. I normally use a pair of pliers but take your time it will come back out. Do it all the time

some good needle nose pliers will pull it back out, had to do it when i switched to HT0 plugs. Just be careful its really not that hard.

I had to call a few different stores but advanced or autozone does carry the HT0 Plugs.

pliers, squeeze it from the outside and it will push the inner part back out. ive done it a dozen times.

exactly what I was thinking! It's always something. The common crap, like these plugs, you get the right tool or improvise, and learn how to get'r done, and move on to the next 'challenge'. Sure it can be frustrating at times, but, it's all part of the game. Tackle it properly, learn shit, and move on.
