Shipping seats

I'm putting my Recaros up for sale soon and was curious what methods of shipping seats people have used in the past. Obviously I don't have any boxes sitting around that are large enough, and they are extremely heavy, so I'm wondering if it would even be worth trying.

Has anyone here shipped factory seats before, and if so what did you do?

I have bought replacement seats for my work trucks before. All that is special really is the bottom of the seat you unbolt from the back of the seat (some times they are involved getting the backs unlatched from bottoms) then you slide the two parts into a tall box, stuff the rest of the lose spots with paper, and then they are UPS ready. A ball park off the top of my head number for the box sizes that my work van seats came in is like 46x22x22 box.

Shipping will probably be expensive as crap, and may not make it worth selling to anyone that's not local to you. I have heard of guys putting large parts on a Greyhound bus, but I have never personally done this. But it may be worth checking into.

In all seriousness, if you decide to do this, shoot me a PM. I want some Recaros bad!

You can ship greyhound, i've shipped it many times. Its about $100 for both seats.

I've heard very good stories about this method. My brother is a Owner/Operator and he doesn't even try to compete with these guys. A friend bought a car near Tulsa and got it shipped to Houston for $350. You could even ship a live chicken if you need to.

I agree with uship. If I have a customer who calls in from another state to get a car shipped to them and they have little to no experience with a shipper - I recommend this and they have a lot of luck with it.

On a side note, I wish you were closer since my GF wants a pair.
