Of the 3 vehicles I have taken to CarMax, none was even remotely fairly priced ($2k+ below KBB trade-in valuation). The first one was so bad I laughed in the sales guys face and had to ask if he was serious. They obviously are doing something right but I would never even consider going to them to trade in/sell or to buy.

I guess I just got lucky then. They ended up giving me more than the KBB trade in value. Granted, I didn't check the private sale value. I just knew I didn't want to spend the time handling everything on my own. WILECYOT also got a great deal selling his car to them.

It's safe to assume you have no knowledge of what goes on in the purchasing department at CarMax.

When I was in the buyers office every offer was researched and proved to the customer of how fair it was.

Haha, sure it was. Fair to Carmax maybe. I purchased several vehicles out of wholesale that were purchased at a "fair price" and usually doubled my money. I made almost 10k off 1 car and 5k of another in less then a month. But like mentioned above, time is worth more to some than others. They supposedly paid what they would pay for them at auction. Obviously modified vehicles are lowballed because they won't sell them. Which I understand. They offered me 7k for an 09 Silverado last week with 100k miles on it. Sold it for 15k on CL in 4 days. I also understand they need to make money, that's their purpose. Obviously in this case they paid a good amount. Here that is not often the case. Maybe we you were it was run differently.

In your case you also have a more unique vehicle in high demand. So that I'm sure helped.

I can see that. I think a lot of dealerships take advantage of opportunities when they can. I remember selling a used Sonoma once for 16000. When I got the 2500 commission I felt bad because I hadn't known that we had taken it in on trade in for 6000.

Went to an Autocross event today.
This was one of my best runs of the day.
I started with a time of 87 seconds, this was a 77.2-sec run.
I had a 76.2-sec run also but I hit a cone and that added a 2-second penalty back on :(

LOVE the Whipple song :D

And a couple of pics.

My gray '13 GT, my girlfriend's '08 GT500, and a misc pic showing part of the field
