This, I use the garden sprayer method and put all 7 QTS ( what mine holds) in every new motor this way.

Do you have a list of the parts (adapters) needed to bolt into the oil filter adapter? I guess you feed it where the oil pressure switch is?

I honestly don't think soaking them does a damn thing, lol,I use the bug sprayer method every time.

Do you do that right before start up (same day) or a couple of days before? Just wondering if I should wait until the motor is in or can I just prime it while its out.

Thanks guys!!

$13 Home Depot bug sprayer, some hose and a 1/8 npt barbed nipple, I usually throw 5 quarts in it just after setting all the timing chains/gears. Then I rotate the crank about 30 times with a torque wrench on the crank making sure nothing is binding....the day before cranking I run the rest of the oil thru the bug sprayer, mine hold 9 quarts so I use about 3 more quarts and use my last quart to top it off.

OK, so we have come to the first road block of the build... sigh

Fore Innovations fuel rail is interfering with the L shaped bracket that bolts between the alternator and the intake manifold. I posted a thread to see if there where any Fore Innovations fuel rails on other ROUSH supercharged motors: http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2077256#post2077256

Its a little hard to see...

I never used that rear bracket on my alternator. Never had any issues without it, the main alternator bracket was braced to the front of the blower and the alternator did not move at all.

Really? So your bolts never loosened up?
I'm a little leery of just depending on those two bolts. Scared the alternator will go flying though the hood. lol

OK, so here is my attempt at a priming device.

Thanks for all that guided me through this. I haven't tried it as I am not sure when I am cranking up the motor. Still needs to go in the car. lol

I may just run 2 quarts through it now while rotating the crank as I will not be able to rotate the crank when its in the car because its so crammed in there. I socket won't fit between the crank bolt and fan. sigh

Anyway, will report how it goes later...

So I bought a garden sprayer at Lowe's... I think it was $10.
3 1/4" NPT 5/16" barbed fittings and a 1/4 ball valve along with some 5/16 clear hose.
Oh and I stopped at AutoZone for a 1/4 to 5/16 filter.

I've been heavily into this build for a few days and I have not had time on the computer... lol

Anyway, here are a few highlights... Not sure if I mentioned it before, but my phasers are now locked and VCT solenoids removed and replaced with Ford V10 VCT blocking plates. So what do you do with the big hole left in the valve cover????

You find a machinist to make you these:

And this is what they look like installed...they are press fit.

The motor is now complete to drop in the engine bay...currently routing some wire harness for my new twin AFR gauges and a new JPC clutch line; I replaced my current JPC line. Seems like JPC updated their line to be bigger compared to my skinny one I had. Supposed to be better clutch disengagement.

Here is a sneak peak... I will post the build later...

Installed some Super 8 locking fasteners on the headers...what a pain in the ass. I can't imagine doing that with the motor in the car.

I installed some Fore Innovation fuel rails...not sure if I will stay with those or install the factory ones.

Does anyone know what the connections are for the starter?

In the Ford service manual it only shows one connector/wire. But I have two, a big which I'm sure its positive and a smaller wire... But like I said, service manual only shows one. And I don't remember how it was connected previously.

Wiring Schematic: http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=40&viewfile=Starting System.pdf
Battery cable wiring: http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=366&viewfile=Battery Cables - 4.6L (3V).pdf

Nevermind... Found it:
