No just for discussion. I'm not interested in that kit for myself. I was just not sure if a makeshift bracket to attach to the existing mounting place would be all around safe compared to replacing the entire mounting place like the 2013 GT500's have.

I wouldn't mind doing that if I could just get the brackets. $300+ $20 shipping seems excessive for 2 rotors and a couple chunks of aluminum.

I am pretty sure that I have seen another aftermarket kit from one of the more well known manufacturers that uses a bracket similar to the one in the ebay link.

I wouldn't have a problem with it for a show car or even a DD, but I would be a little hesitant to use that kit on a car that sees track (road course) duty. Just another potential failure point. But that's just MHO.

Yeah, but with the OEM bracket you have to pull the axles out and the install is much more involved. With this kit I think you are mostly paying for ease of installation. 30 minutes vs 3 hours.

I used the actual brackets off the '13 GT500 and had to pull the axels for the install.

These are easier way of upgrading.

Yeah so for $275 + SH you can do it plus rearend oil and friction modifier.

Price of oil is going to depend what you prefer to put in it. If you really want to be a cheap skate you can catch all the oil.

I value my time on the cheap side since i like doing things like this, and i feel the fomoco bracket is more rigid and some proper RnD went into verus a bracket bolted to another bracket.

Very nice, but I did hear that 05-10 calipers would cause rubbing on the rotor even if spaced out correctly since they changed the machining of it a tad bit for 2011+. I would rather do it this way since I want to put in the new Stoptech rotors to match the front ones on the 15" Brembo's

The only reason I would ever do them would be for looks. I think an adapter bracket is probably sufficient for most of us on the street. I've been thinking about doing them myself as well. I just don't want to take the afternoon to pull the axles and make a mess in my driveway.

I agree, but I would much rather do the OEM piece just because that's my style. I just like how they fill out the rear much more.

I have '08 GT500 14" brembo fronts and '13 GT500 13.8" rears. The brembos just with stock rotors/pads are a major difference over 05-10 GT brakes. The rears just look pretty. I'm sure they help but all the stopping power is in the front. I did all 4 corners for less than $1k. I would have done the 15" 6 piston brembos but the price was murder compared to '08 take-offs.


Edit: Both the front '08 and '13 rears are direct swaps. The rears require the '13 GT500 caliper bracket. Tasca can provide them if you only get your hands on the calipers/discs.

Alas I dont have any mounted pics of the rear or bracketry differences. It was all a painless swap. There is a catch to the rears I failed to mention. You'll have to remove the axel shafts in order to swap the caliper brackets lol. I was doing a gear swap at the time so it was perfect for me lol. As you can see, the rears dwarf the stock fronts in size. Just not as much surface area on the pad. I've seen some complain that no one makes a dual or quad piston caliper for the rears but honestly I dont think you want to unbalancd the brakes too much or you'll have stability issues. The single floating piston assists just fine.

The biggest difference I noticed so far is heat fade. The new setup leaves no trace of heat warping or streaking on the discs. The pedal is always there. I am a street car, but I do put the hammer to those brakes when it gets the lead foot applied. I do love the look of the black caliper on white car with brembo wheels!

So the fleabay kit uses the 05-14 calipers and they give you spacers and rotors??? Just bolt and go?? What's all this talk of removing axles??
