LOL. No doubt Freak. But I look at it this way.....I was determined to keep black wheels on my car when I changed out to drag rims. So one way or another, I was painting something black! And the wheels out now, those that do have black on them, are more a black accent. And thanks for the props on the car. I can't wait to get my built block from Mike and crank up the boost!

So what was everyones final combo on rims and tire setups cost wise? Im trying to shop around on the jegs and different tire setups. Im looking at right now without shipping, for the Jeg Star setup and Mickey Thomspon Front runner and ET street 26x10.5x15 and apr studs and jegs spacer at $1289.88. Looking to make it a bit cheaper but want to see if im about right for a good drag setup. Im sure I can go cheaper by not doing the studs and getting different front runners.

Plus my one other question, are these setups steet worthy? At least to drive to the track? I cant trailer mine nor can I change the tires out once I get to the strip since there really is no way to at our local track (gravel parking and no level grounds)

*UPDATE*

tried installing the jegs stars (all 4 corners) as mentioned in this thread on my 2006 GT. All of them still require brake caliper grinding. i purchased the wheels a few months back when this thread started...just got around to getting tires. went to put them on...and they all locked up on the calipers. i am confident they can be made to work with litle grinding, but as of now they are NOT bolt on and run.

the rear will be minimal, on one part of the caliper.

the front will take some effort and creativity. i am going to try and eliminate the need for a spacer. currently a touch over 1/4" just about 3/8". worse case is that i have another spacer that is between 1/8" and 3/16"...so if i can get it it except them that would be nice. and would probebly eliminate the need to change out the studs. so this might be a blessing in disguise.

I just bought the summit ones friday and should be here within the week... I have an 06 as well and followed the same back spacing and everything for the jegs wheels. Did you use the spacer on the fronts and it still locked up or did it not clear without it? I ordered the 3/8 space from the other thread.
I'm hoping they work since I was planning on running these at the track friday. Your post just got my hopes down

I have an 06. I swapped to the V6 caliper bracket and rotors. I did some moderate grinding on the front and fit with a 1/4" spacer. With some more aggressive grinding I might be able to fit w/o a spacer. The 15 by 8 with 5.5" bs fit w/o a problem on mine.

my issue with the spacer was this. i did not order the actual jegs 3/8" spacers becauase of cost, and i figured i could get them locally. i was sort of wrong. the ones i got were like mentioned above..a little more than 1/4" but not 3/8"..so 5/16"ish. i am pretty sure they are a metric. but they hit. is that 16th the issue? i think so. it is not hitting by much. but with only 1/16th clearance...i am going to work on the calipers a touch and try to make the thinner (3/16") spacers i also have work. it should eliminate me from having to change out the $140 in studs. here is hoping.

the rears...are ever so slightly rubbing. i was able to move the car...thats how i knew there was an issue. not only did the calipers pluck the stick on wheel weights, they ground the inside face of the star part of the wheel.

why is my car different? im not 100% sure. but looking at the calipers, you can see that the castings are not very precise, and that there could easily be more than one type of the same brake caliper on these cars...so a 1/16" tolerance (the amount that is in question and rubbing) could be the difference.

i dont view this as a big deal to modify these calipers, more so of a heads up to fellow mustang owners.

It would be cool if people with 06+ could take picture of their caliper so we could make a scrapbook of those 3 kind of calipers.

No one know how to identify them.

(i say that but i don't care i have an 05 ;p )

think what everyone is saying is that there are 3 different manufacturers for the calipers and since noone knows how to tell the difference you won't know until you mount them to see if they will clear. i'll find out thursday and let you guys know how it goes.

as far as the front runners go, i need to find out which set to run. don't want to spend too much money and get the m/h front runners right now but might get a set in a few months. right now i just want to get a set that is cheap and is rated good enough to run at the track. right now i trap at 116 so i'm thinking those tires rygen gave me the link to will be good enough for me? need to order a set today to make sure i have them by thursday so i can get everything mounted.
