Damn that sucks , did you tell them to port it

Not really... I told Justin that Steig wanted to port it and Justin told me that it was unnecessary...but that it was OK.

There is the conundrum... sigh

One thing you have to understand about Steig is that they are port crazy. They want to port every single thing. They were insistent I send them the new VMP throttle body so they can port it bigger claiming more HP...after I told them I was looking to reduce HP because I already had too much for pump gas. sigh

I will speak with Steig and see what they say. But I know its going to end up nowhere... Hopefully I can sell the ported case to someone pushing high HP and race fuel/ethanol and recoup some of the cost of the new case.

Maybe they would be interested in trading for a stock one that somebody has sent to them to be ported. Then they just send your ported one to them and their stock one to you.

I still have my stock ROUSH case. But the GenII cases are scarce as this was the very first one they had seen/had their hands on. lol

I bet the unported case returns similar/identical performance.

VMP gen-2 cases don't need to be ported, they are already huge as is. They flow way more air than the 2.3 TVS from the 13-14 gt-500.....which flows way more air than a VMP-gen1....which flows way more air than a roush oem 2.3. The VMP gen-2 case is unique, it has no separate elbow. The case and elbow are all one unit.

VMP depicted some interesting pix buried on their site.....showing what happens when u go nuts with "hogging" too much metal out. The most eff turns out to be the D shaped arrangement..u get max airflow, max boost, lowest blower exhaust temps (pre-ic)..and least hp to drive the entire mess.

If u got less boost cuz of steigy's port job, u just went backwards.

So the latest is that I now need a new blower...

GenII%20Stiegy%20-%20Rotor%20Gears_zpsnt5brig6.jpg

VMP Tuning does not even want to mess with my Stiegy modded blower due to this picture!!

See how the gears are not even flush with each other. According to EATON they are supposed to be flush with each other.

The other item according to EATON is that those gears are supposed to be straight cut.

So as everyone predicted, I am not caught between two rocks...

I am having to spend several thousand dollars buying a whole new blower assembly. sigh

!@#$%^&*()_ :wtf::censored1::mad2::flame:

I'm sick an tired of this damn car!! I'm ready to burn it or sell it off.

^^ Damn that sucks! Can't you buy the new blower then sell this one? I would think you shouldn't come out that far behind of you could do that?

No, Stiegy did not replace the gears. They did refinish my rotors though which require the whole gear set to be taken apart.

Stiegy says they did not replace the gears. They also say they did not change the timing on the rotors.

As you can see, this blower at Stiegy has the same gears as mine:

So why not just run the blower as is? Its down a bit on boost, but beats buying a new blower.

Because it's not efficient for the low boost levels I'm driving it at. I'm having to spin it faster to make less power than before.

I will not be happy with that long term.

I'm lost here. What blower did u buy...thought it was a VMP unit ? That VMP gen-2 TVS-2300 would be the real ticket. Most eff of the entire bunch...(eaton tvs-2300). Blower and elbow is one unit. Lowest blower discharge temps (pre-ic) of any TVS-2300 rotor pack assy, least hp to drive it, most boost for a given blower speed, etc.

BTW... did u see the results that DOB is getting with their oem M122 /dob HE /IC /pump etc, running 10 psi boost..and 93 octane ? ( oem was 7 psi on a GT-500 M122).

80 deg f IAT from start to finish on a hard pull. This is with a heat soaked eng to start with. ( 70 deg F ambient air temp at the time of the test). It's written up on the ..."Mustang chit chat" section. He just re-wrote the book on IAT. No more water-meth, no ice required, no E85 required. Check it out. Real eye opener.

I would use that rotor pack in a new housing. I would have used that ported blower - you have to draw the line somewhere.
