My previous comment was in response to this^^^.
Please explain. As I am pretty sure that racing harnesses in general are not DOT approved and illegal to use on the street. They are ok to have installed as long as you are actually wearing the factory 3 points on the street. In La. If you get stopped wearing a non DOT racing harness on the street you will get ticketed. Of course it's a minor violation, but that's not the point.

Some of the harnesses are DOT approved. And all that takes 99% of the time is having the release "button" red like a car seat belt. "They" want anyone to be able to release you from the belts (EMT's, etc) and they are looking for a red release button. Even though most of the time they cut you out.
IMO if you find a cop that is going to mess with you over harnesses he will find al sorts of other stuff on the car to go after. I find it unlikely that a car with harnesses won't have other "illegal" stuff on it.
