Yeah those are absolutely not meant for hid.

Look at the width, or lack there of.

You are still lightyears ahead of a pnp in reflector housing, but you would he surprised at how much better a proper hid projector would look.

My thing is the containment of the light. If he is only getting 50% more throw and illumination over stock halogens, it's worth the $400. OEM halogen/non-projector HID can't touch that. HID's in reflector housings just scatter the light, while it may look like daylight in front of your vehicle, it is unfocused and actually doesn't improve vision because you're eyes are overwhelmed, on top of blinding oncoming drivers. OEM HID's (05-09) just cover the light projection enough to not blind oncoming traffic, and barely improve vision.

However, you're not wrong. A true HID projector is still a far cry from a halogen projector. But for $400? I'd rather that than mess with taking apart a headlamp housing to retrofit a HID projector. Maybe I'm lazy, but I know what I want for x-mas!
