Resonators arrived, met with local muffler shop and they get welded in next Friday. I'll report back on the impact next weekend.

New resonators are welded in. For loudness if without them it was a 10 I'd say now its an 8. I think its a bit quieter but not as quiet as stock. I'm happy with the loudness results.

For the droning from 0-45mph I think its completely eliminated. At 60mph where it was the worse before its better but not completely gone. If stock muffler drone was a zero and before resonators it was a drone of 10 I'd say this brought it down to like a 6. So not completely gone but much better.

I'd like to see if I dynomatted / sound deadened the trunk area how much that would help get it down another couple notches. I have a convertible so I wonder how much extra sound gets through that maybe you wouldn't notice on a coupe.

I got the vibrant resonators linked in the previous page. I'll try and make a sound clip this weekend.

Mid mounting is great for tone shaping. I have cams, LTs, offroad H with borla S types. Mid mounted resonators cleaned up all the garbage tone and is now very deep and muscular. Best tone you can get in a 3v is with them IMO.

Sorry for the dead thread revival, but did you happen to get a sound clip? Now that I have moved to a morning shift at work, I'm trying to get an idea of how much resonators will help with the O/R H.

Sorry man this fall was crazy, my son had his cleft palette surgery and other things in life got in the way. So the car is now in its storage hibernating the winter away.

Not to butt into a 3 valve chat but have you guys tried gt500 mufflers? Just wondering what a 3v sounds like thru them.

Ok, resurrecting an old thread, but it's on topic.

I just got my Kooks and catted h-pipe installed. Loud? Hell yeah! Trumpeting? Some at wide open throttle, but I don't mind it. Drone? Around 2200 rpms. I had it before, but it's much louder now.

So, now I'm thinking I should add the resonators to the midpipe. My exhaust guy recommends the Magnaflow stainless resonators to go with the Kooks and my Pype-Bombs. Seems to make sense. The only kick in the butt is the cost of stainless resonators ($100+ each) but you get what you pay for I suppose.

Anyone disagree with the plan?

I've heard staggered resonators eliminate drone. I wish I would've tried it on my previous setup, because I loved the sound but it was too loud.

I got a couple of Cherry bombs that I am going to weld into the midpipe. What is the difference with doing it before or after the crossover?

I have a catted h-pipe and would mount the resonators after the mid-pipe but from what I've read, the resonators would be better suited after the midpipe even with an O/R midpipe.

I'd love to find a cheaper resonator, but I'd rather use the Magnaflow models if my exhaust guy will guarantee the setup.

The $300 cost isn't too bad, but it's just $300 less for a blower or stroker kit.

The Pypes M-80's are superb...and made from 304 SS. Dirt cheap from AM at $44.95 each. I cut the slots off in the band saw..then had em welded in...... just b4 the axle.....on my 2010. ( IE: aft of the H). http://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-m80-muffler.html

After the JBA ceramic LT + mating JBA catted H install.... the drone at 1900 rpm drove me nuts...plus it was WAY too loud. I had previously installed a pair of FRPP FRS-500 SS mufflers and tossed the oem mufflers.

The M80's did the trick....and got rid of 90% of the drone. No where near as loud....and everything has shifted to a lower pitch. Dangle a large cardboard box by one flap behind the car....and it vibrates. Almost like it has a sub sonic component to it.

I have M80's also and love them but I believe massmustang plans to go supercharged. I have heard from many that m80's don't hold up well to boosted application.

They work just fine with my m90 blower..+ 386rwhp...in a 2010 auto. They are just 4" diam x 14" long...with 2.5" ID. They have a ring in on each end, to limit insertion. I really don't see what there is to burn out in them..they are hollow end to end. They are 304 SS on the inside too...which is what kooks uses.

Cherry bombs are aluminized steel. Local mustang buddy installed a pair of em on the ends of his LT's..on his big mopar. Burnt the red paint right off in no time flat...then burnt the insides to a crisp. Aluminized steel is what is used on clothes dryer vents..and also inside brick chimneys..when a gas furnace /gas fireplace retrofit is used.

Not sure but here a quick few people who have had problems with M80's breaking. Better to be safe than sorry but as I said I love my M80's just thought I would give mass a heads up is all.
