Last few days I've been doing stuff in the garage.
Made up a ladder storage system to get the long 14-foot ladder out from next to the GF's car, now out of the way hanging from the ceiling:

Also removed one of the old panels that were installed on the walls facing the cars, and getting ready to install some shelving there:

Lastly, yesterday I installed a new shelf on my side of the garage, and made up some PVC-pipe holders for the drill and impact gun:

I'm thinking of adding a small shelf to the right of the tools above for the 2 chargers I have, so that will be a small power-tool storage/charging station

Spring cleanup found my Rose of Sharon tree has big split The two branches still seem healthy otherwise, theres actually another that had damage long time ago it re-grew roots from above a split and saved itself. Is there anything I can do, like wrapping this to relieve the stress? It would make tree weird shaped if I lost these 2

Looks like there's a bit of decay in the fork where it split. If it's mostly green wood then maybe you could drill through the break and install a piece of allthread with washers and nuts on both sides to hold it together. Combine that with some weight reduction on the tips of those two limbs to reduce the load and it may hold together for many years. If not, it won't cost you anything to try.

Hmm didn't think that way, was more on an outside wrap like ratcheting straps. I'll take better look and do some weight reduction, I'd rather slighty misshapen than lose both. Lose finger to save the hand kind of idea

The outside wrap will end up girdling both limbs over time. Better off bolting through the center.

Put 4 IC and airseal rated lights in, with LED retros. Those are now on a 3 way dimmer, while the fan is now on a 3 speed switch (previous was knob speed controller) with a separate switch for the light.

Always interesting, figuring out what stupid wiring the PO has done. Plenty of twist and tape joints......

Most of the side yard was tall brush. Got most of it cleared out and now I'm working on clearing out the big rocks. Might eventually rent some equipment and get some top soil to lay down.

Changed out all my bulbs to LED. Should save a few bucks as well as I much prefer the whiter light.

You're welcome. I stole it off Pinterest, lol.

Make sure you don't make the groove all the way through, leave a couple of inches at the back of the pipe so the pipe is fully solid all the way around, it makes it so the pipe doesn't open up and let a heavy power tool fall through

How did you screw it in? Are they screwed into the shelf or into the wall some how?

Screwed into the shelf above. Drilled some holes through the top of the pipe first, then a bit into the shelf, then screwed in the screws, making sure that I was using screws that wouldn't go through the top of the shelf

That area now also houses the chargers for the Milwaukee tools, the dual-battery Battery Tender for the Mustangs, a power strip, and a roll of paper towels. Will also add another holder, for the roll of trash bags, and that will be under the paper towel roll.
This new picture also shows the screws securing the PVC pipe pieces to the upper shelf, and how far back I cut the pipe opening:

Recently I also added something for the girlfriend's side of the garage, to protect the Shelby's door from possibly hitting the cement wall.
1" pipe insulation, 1" dowel rod, both cut to the same size, drilled through the foam and into the dowel to insert a couple of eyelet hooks, then hung the contraption off one hook.
Made sure it's at the right height so that the pointy edge of the door would hit it dead on.

I suppose I could have, but I didn't want to get any of the mortar or grout all over the walls. Or damage any drywall in the process

At my old house I had the same issue. I took a scrap piece of 1x6, took it to the local upholstery shop and for $10 they stuck a piece of foam on it and wrapped it with black vinyl. I stuck two metal tabs on it and hung it on the wall where my door would hit.

By the way, the living room railing looks fantastic.

Thanks Brian, we're still getting used to it being there ... We've been living here since July of last year with no railing, so it's feeling a little weird, but we love it.
