Hey, so i have a 2007 mustang gt. Currently i have stock everything except i got a muffler delete. (Straight piped) (still have cats)

i want a louder set up. In my understanding Straight pipe will always be louder than any exhaust? So if i would just get some slp loudmouths for example it would just have a deeper tone , but not louder correct? thats my first question.

A guy recommended me i get an X pipe with Cats ( i live in Cali)

is it really louder to take of cats?

First of all, I'm just gonna say this before a mod does -

Please, take a few minutes to read the forum rules. Your first post should be an intro, not a question about something that's been discussed several times.

However, to answer your question - yes. Any time you remove a restriction, the result is louder. Not necessarily a better tone, but louder nonetheless.

I had Pypebombs on my 3V and it more than sufficed until I was ready to get an o/r x. On my Coyote, I ran SLP Loudmouths which were, in my opinion, the loudest axleback with stock cats that's out there. Loved it. Took the cats off and it was insanely louder. But I also didn't like the trumpeting that came along with it. Swapped to Roush AB and problem solved.

Don't forget to get a tune, too.

Oh and welcome.

Ca law states legal db level is 95. It is very likely you will be over that with what you want to do putting your vehicle in violation of Vehicle Code Section 27150 or 27151

I had cats and straight pipes and loved the sound. It was loud, but I got all kinds of "what exhaust set up do you have?" comments.

The idea is to search first to see if it has been asked before. And if you did it in tech that's a big no no! Lol

I knew a guy that ran straight pipes in his 05. Started with a muffler delete and then he deleted the cats. It sounded like shit. You could hear him for miles. No one wanted to cruise around him because it was annoying.

My first exhaust set up was a off-road x pipe w/ SLP Loudmouths. It was just STUPID loud. I only had that set up on for a couple days. Hated it. I bought a SSS (stainless steel systems) axle back (round style mufflers) and made things much better. Its decently quite during cruise, but loud during WOT, exactly what i wanted. Didnt get much louder when I installed my long tubes. I love my set up, I get a lot of compliments.

Here's a little cold start for ya.

Truthfully I think at WOT, the SLPs are louder. Again, just my opinion. I think the Outlaws are louder at idle and low-speed. But then again, everyone knows us Mustang owners only drive WOT. lol

Exact same thing for me. Factory cats--no tailpipes.
All my car guy neighbors say it sounds great.
I agree.
Above 3500 it sounds so sweet, especially under full throttle

Back when I daily drove the Mustang I found out I was the neighborhood alarm clock. Because I was so punctual the neighbors knew if they were on time or running late when they heard my car start up. I took a week off and got in trouble. Apparently my neighbors were late for work on Monday.
