Got this 2010 gt a few weeks ago, Has a roush CAI on it.

Plan to buy tuner tonight.....
Seen issues with Bama lately so was leaning towards Brenspeed which gets alot of recommendations but like the tunes for life with Steeda which ive also seen only possitive things said about.

Any suggestions on Bren vs Steeda?

Also.... back to the Roush CAI ( https://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-cai-2010gt.html )
What really bugs me is the filter looks old and is all dented up. Ive looked for over an hour online and see no replacement filter offered anywhere and even read a post about them being discontinued. Its oval shaped, any ideas of a filter that would fit it?
Its a No tune required CAI..... If I bought a new "tune required" CAI would I see or feel any gains or noticeable difference when running custom tune?

The car is stock besides the roush CAI and a muffler delete previous owner did. I plan on headers, offroad h pipe, catback in the future, maybe 4.10s soon. Pretty sure all I have around here is 91 pump gas. Its a nice weather daily driver, will be 99% of the time city driven and prefer low end torque over top speed.
Ive never changed tune on a vehicle so will I need to pick between "street", "performance", "race" etc tunes? And what should I go for?

Thanks

I just did a thread yesterday (I’m on my phone and can’t access it as easily)

Steeda is a great choice as mentioned in the thread - we write our tunes to be safe, reliable and powerful.

Our CAI and tune will definitely show great gains, the CAI and tune combo yield more gains than just the tune or CAI alone.

Send me an email to [email protected] if I can help with forum pricing and answer any questions.

Im not 100% because 2010 was an oddball year but if its like the 05-09 version of the Roush cai then it will have an insert where the maf is on the inside of the tube. If so then skip a new cai.

Yep, the Roush CAI can be converted to a 101 mm intake by removing the venturi insert.

Just measure the filter and buy one off Jegs or Summit. Or Amazon, It looks like you even have room for a longer filter.

The measurements you will need is the diameter of the tube it needs to go on, The top and bottom diameter of the filter itself and the length.

Here is exact one I got.

They dont mention anything about a removeable insert. You guys sure about that?

I wonder why my filter is gray? Looks like even though the filter is oval it has a round inlet so shouldnt be too hard to find replacement

Well I just ordered my SCT X4 from Steeda. Ive read they may be a little conservative but are safe and reliable and that means alot to me.

TJ.... I forgot to email you about forum pricing :(

So... this is my first time buying a tuner. I figured there would be a form to fill out and a tune would be installed but I guess I probably need to get the handheld and register it and all that first then get my tune via email?

Look for an Airaid filter as that is who makes the Roush CAI's. Here are a couple I got off the first couple of pages. I think there are a bunch of the oval offset filters, you just have to find one that fits.

If you look at the exploded view at the top of the page it is part #3. Or you can look at the bottom of the page on step 8. It may look like it doesn't come apart but it does. If you pull it out you are going to need a different tune.

It's grey because it probably needs to be cleaned and oiled.

Yeah, if you pull it out just tell them you have the Airaid race intake. I think it's a 4" intake.

Well like I said I wasnt 100% sure because 10 was an oddball year. Only way to tell is to take the air filter off and take a look. I would just run what you have and spend money elsewhere anyway. Cold air intakes dont do much as it is, its moreso the tune that gives you gains.

^^^Yes, yours looks totally different from the Airaid one. My bad. 2010 is the red headed stepchild of the S197's. Well, you should at least be able to find the filter for it.

Yeah , im not even sure if there was any reason for the aftermarket cai. Ive read the 2010 had 15hp more due to redesign of the stock cai. Who knows though, alot of it could of been factory tune

The redline on the 2010 is 6500 rpm, vs 6250 on the 05-09 cars..even though the tach depicts 6250. The oem 2010 air box gets the 'snorkel' that's routed to the front grille. For whatever reason, the 2010 water pump uses less hp than the 05-09 water pumps. The 2010 eng, ended up being listed as 315 crank hp...and 325 crank tq.
