Its the way of the future... Just think.... As Mustang fades away to a domesticated electric crossover our True to the core legacy Mustangs will have much more to be desired and will hold a high place for the good old glory days..

The old ladies can have their Mustang CUV's. We'll just call the next 2 door ponycar the Aerostar.

Ford is not going to change the name. They've invested a ton of money and already christened it. Even Bill Ford Jr signed off on the name after objecting at first. It's done.

Agree... Ford is capitalizing on the Mustang's legacy by using it to leverage the all new generation. If you're looking for true muscle cool sounding v8 mustangs then look to the past. Electric crossover Mustang - SUVs, Wagons, and Strollers are all the future holds for Mustang.

Get your V8 cars now, because I have a feeling that before long they will be no more.

S197 will experience a huge resurgence as it's a basic platform ripe for mods and will be very cheap for a long time to come. So many were sold. Durable, even the trans. Hanlon makes an adapter that will let you hook a windsor up to the 3650, 26 spline input shaft. Could start with a 6, have a 408W/5speed car with a nice edelbrock carb! Run easy 10's on sticky buns.

2 questions:
1 how will you get that inspected?
2 Why on earth would you put an old pushrod in there? There are so many better engine options out there that will bolt in witbout any adapters.

First off, there are not that many better options for engines to swap in.

Second, there are many places where an inspection is not required and the small block ford is an excellent power producer-especially for the cost. LS motors were definitely inspired by the windsor architecture and anyone who has driven a big inch windsor will realize how weak any mod motor or coyote is on the low end compared to this platform. It is an excellent option for a track-only car and is not a bad option for a street car. You can build a 460 cubic inch Windsor that fits much easier in your engine bay than a wheezy 2V 4.6.

Hopefully lots of people will crash 2020 and up super duty trucks with the pushrod 7.3-or ford offers a crate version.

With the plentiful availability of turbos, engine swapping is moot these days. You can literally pick a power target and hit it with almost any engine and a turbo(s). Some do it more easily than others. But a 3V can make almost any power number you want. And after a poin,t a large number means little. What's the difference between 600 hp and 800 hp in a street car? This horsepower war has become a joke IMO.

How about a 500 hp road racer? A power adder 3v will heat soak long before a 500 hp 400+ cubic inch windsor.

A 500 hp 3V would need 10 psi and a turbo 3v could be assembled to not heat oak that low level.

As the owner of a 3v turbo, IAT's still became a factor with only 8 psi after a few minutes of running hard and the car pulled timing. If you are able to run E85 it might not be a factor, I suppose.

I love my mod motor but it is hard to deny the potential that a bigger bore and more cubic inches bring to the table. The mod motor with just a couple of aftermarket internal parts is a monster for all out power with boost but it leaves some to be desired in N/A form compared to the bigger cubic inch motors available. Don't dismiss the easy and predictable powerband of a pushrod motor.

I'm not ditching my TVS 5.0, but that combo is really the only thing you can do to get
coyote, low end torque. I like the 7.3 idea and hope it gets some aftermarket support.
I'd put one in my Capri (has 5.0 with small turbo now) and 2 of my old broncos........

I think the 7.3 will be a gift from the horsepower gods as soon as they start showing up in wrecking yards. I mean right out of the truck they have 430 hp at 5500 and 475 lb-ft at 4000 making 400+ from 1600 through about 5600. Retuned and cammed could be insane. I think 500 hp will be easy for it. Looks like it's made for a turbo to me.

I have a feeling that it will be aways away before the v8 is basically gone from all new stangs(or any car for that matter). Still to big of a market for them to move away from the combustion engine and go all electric.

I agree that they will still be around for a while, but the technology is making them less relevant. I have a feeling they will become an emissions and CAFE limits liability. I mean Mercedes has a 2.0 now that makes 416 hp and 369 ft-lbs and delivers the power as if it's a NA V8. Fords 2.3 is a couple tweaks away from matching that if they wanted.

This. The move will be towards smaller displacement with a power adder, I see the benefits of electric but I just can’t get excited to ever own or drive one.

I can totally see the 2.7EB V6 or the 3.0EB V6 or even the 3.5EB becoming a top level engine at some point in the not too distant future. The top level 3.5EB in the F150 makes 450 hp 510 tq.

Turbos are gross

Why not just build a nice windsor and get it over with? Less money, same power, more reliable, better sound, correct firing order, can use a mechanical fuel pump, easier, simpler. Can thin out your wiring harness. No inspection issues. I don't see any better options.
