Ford is not going to change the name. They've invested a ton of money and already christened it. Even Bill Ford Jr signed off on the name after objecting at first. It's done.
2 questions:S197 will experience a huge resurgence as it's a basic platform ripe for mods and will be very cheap for a long time to come. So many were sold. Durable, even the trans. Hanlon makes an adapter that will let you hook a windsor up to the 3650, 26 spline input shaft. Could start with a 6, have a 408W/5speed car with a nice edelbrock carb! Run easy 10's on sticky buns.
As the owner of a 3v turbo, IAT's still became a factor with only 8 psi after a few minutes of running hard and the car pulled timing. If you are able to run E85 it might not be a factor, I suppose.A 500 hp 3V would need 10 psi and a turbo 3v could be assembled to not heat oak that low level.

I love my mod motor but it is hard to deny the potential that a bigger bore and more cubic inches bring to the table. The mod motor with just a couple of aftermarket internal parts is a monster for all out power with boost but it leaves some to be desired in N/A form compared to the bigger cubic inch motors available. Don't dismiss the easy and predictable powerband of a pushrod motor.
Get your V8 cars now, because I have a feeling that before long they will be no more.
I have a feeling that it will be aways away before the v8 is basically gone from all new stangs(or any car for that matter). Still to big of a market for them to move away from the combustion engine and go all electric.
I agree that they will still be around for a while, but the technology is making them less relevant. I have a feeling they will become an emissions and CAFE limits liability. I mean Mercedes has a 2.0 now that makes 416 hp and 369 ft-lbs and delivers the power as if it's a NA V8. Fords 2.3 is a couple tweaks away from matching that if they wanted.
This. The move will be towards smaller displacement with a power adder, I see the benefits of electric but I just can’t get excited to ever own or drive one.
