I don’t have any issues with them. But got to be used for the right reason. I wouldn’t spend the extra for one in a daily. There just me tho.

"Right reason" The whole point of a batteries life is to provide energy to start the car. It would seem to me the ONLY reason to buy one is if you have a car you want to make sure starts EVERYTIME which I do. Thanks for your reply

In some cases it goes beyond that. After a race I like to run the electric water pump, radiator fan and the HE fans to cool the motor down. Do that with a regular battery a few times and chances are the car won't start for the next run. :deadhorse:

I used to do the same at the track and I actually looked into a marine optima (blue top) because they're made to be cycled more. Meaning you can run them down and charge them up better, supposedly.

Yellow tops are also deep cycleable.
Does rinning the fans matter with the engine off? No water is.circulating unless you have electric water pump.

Without an electric water pump to circulate the water through the radiator, running the fan won't do anything.

Now you can see from the other post the “right reasons”.

Nope, need an electric H2O pump too. But I used to be able to run back to back runs with about 15-20 minutes cool down when running this set up.

Then get a Motorcraft battery or a decent one from any parts store. You don't need a damn Optima just to start your fucking car.

After wasting time with tiny motorcycle sized AGM batteries to try to "save weight", we switched to using Optima full sized AGM batteries a few years ago. So much more capacity/reserve, and the life is better. I have these in all of my street cars (tow vehicle + daily driver truck) and it solved problems. We got tired of pushing cars in the shop EVERY DAY that had a dead Odyssey PC680... bought dozens of these before I learned that lesson.

For dedicated race cars, use the yellow top. For daily drivers, us a red top.

For a long time Optima only made a few sizes, but they released this group 25/75 size recently and we made mounting solutions for that. This is our trunk mounted S197 lower tray, which has an aluminum top to it.

The 25/75 is their lightest "full sized" AGM battery. Hard to go wrong.

I don't sell batteries, just try to help people learn from my mistakes. Don't rely on go kart batteries in a real car! Lead-acid stuff never lasts as long and the water boils off / de-gasses in hot climates. We are lucky to get 4 years of life in Texas with cheaper lead-acid stuff.

cheers,
